So I figured now’s a good time to dive into how well the unit works and where it stands against the competition. Especially since the competitive landscape continues to get more and more crowded."

Felt FR1 review: A rear brake away from greatness.

Thumbnail Credit (cyclingtips.com) (Photography by James Huang): by James Huang June 14, 2017 Photography by James HuangThumb Overlay."While the new bike may be better than the old one on paper, one change may not be welcomed by many.

The previous edition F-Series placed the rear brake on the seatstays as usual, but it’s now moved beneath the chainstays on the FR. From an engineering standpoint, it makes a lot of sense.

Since the chainstays are already substantially bigger and stiffer than the seatstays, they provide an inherently stouter foundation for mounting the caliper without requiring any additional reinforcement."

Tyler Hamilton: Wiping the slate doesn’t result in clean sport.

Thumbnail Credit (sportsintegrityinitiative.com): Why doping is part of cycling’s historyThumb Overlay."Tyler Hamilton’s name is just as famous for his activities off the bike as it is for his achievements on them.

Hamilton competed during an era in which success in professional cycling involved doping, and he was a successful cyclist. He joined the US Postal team in 1997; moving to the CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation) team in 2002, retiring in 2009.

In 2003, he became the only US cyclist to have won one of the Five Monuments of Cycling when he won the Liége Bastogne Liége.

In 2012, he was stripped of his Athens 2004 Olympics time trial gold medal, which he had already returned following a doping confession."

Froome dropped on Alpe d’Huez as Porte raises Tour de France expectations.

"Chris Froome (Team Sky) all but conceded victory to Richie Porte (BMC) in this year’s Criterium du Dauphine after the Australian dropped him at the summit of Alpe d’Huez to extend his lead in the race with one stage to go.

Froome was unable to follow when Porte, Fabio Aru and Alberto Contador lifted the pace in the closing stages of a gripping day’s racing, and although the Team Sky leader only lost 23 seconds to his main rival, he now sits second overall, 1:02 off Porte’s yellow jersey."

The Dauphiné heads to L'Alpe d'Huez on Stage 7.

The Plateau de Solaison is one such road, a tough climb visible briefly from the autoroute between France and Italy as a balcony road cut into high cliffs.

It’s also the final climb of the final stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné this year, a discovery for the pro peloton and as it turns out a very tough climb."

Flaer Revo Via.

Thumbnail Credit (road.cc) by Dave Atkinson: In essence this is a lubricant reservoir and battery-powered pumpThumb Overlay."Flaer's Revo Via is an automatic chain-lubing system.

It works. Unless you're a pro/elite road racer or a long-distance triathlete, it's hard to see how you'd be able to justify the £250 outlay given the very minor efficiency gains.

As such, it's pretty difficult to recommend, although it does do what it's designed to do."

19 of the best saddles — the seats that improve cycling comfort for men and women.

Thumbnail Credit (road.cc): Bum comfort is bike comfort: getting the right seat is the most important factor in being able to ride without pain.Thumb Overlay."Your saddle is arguably the most important component on your bike.

Like that other key to comfort, your shorts, if it's doing its job properly you'll never notice it, but if it isn't - ouch!

It’s your main contact point with the bicycle, and for some of us even subtle variations between two similar saddle designs can lead to one of them crossing fine line between comfortable perch and instrument of torture."

As of the May 31st UCI list of approved frames a ‘2018 Specialized Tarmac SL6’ has appeared, implying that Specialized is going back to the SL nomenclature after taking a break with the 2015 model, which we’ll retroactively call an SL5 now.

For these embracing disc, there is also a ‘Tarmac 18 Disc’ on the UCI list."
