A safe haven, lost: Eight lives stolen
on a bike path.
"You’re
used to fear, just a bit. Cars are scary. They
come too close and there are moments when things
seem about to go sideways, or do go sideways. It’s
what we’re up against. Bike paths, free from cars,
don’t feel like that."

led by Quintana, Landa, Valverde.

of dividing the grand tour calendar between its

Nairo Quintana - Spain’s lone WorldTour team is

Hampsten’s Huffy.
"Hampsten's
“Huffy” was actually made by John Slawta, the
frame builder behind Land Shark bicycles. While
the other riders on 7-Eleven-Hoonved’s Giro team
had their Huffy frames made by Ben Serotta,
Hampsten, who was already one of the world’s best
stage racers, wanted something he was familiar
with. He paid for the bicycle himself - Slawta
gave him a great deal - and had it painted to
match the team bikes."

win.

Katrin Garfoot not choosing between a
baby or Olympics: I want both.
"Despite
having more Road World Championship medals than
any other Australian female rider, the 36 year old
tends to fly under the radar somewhat, not
attracting the general attention you’d expect from
someone with her results."

Philippa York would have swapped
cycling success for personal happiness.
"When
I first went for treatment, it’s called gender
dysphoria. That means you’re unhappy with your
gender. The thing that counts the most is not how
famous are you going to be, it's how happy, and
that counts more for me than any kind of success." (cyclingnews.com)

Hiplok Z-Lok Security Ties.
"Hiplok
Z-Lok Security Ties are a practical, small,
well-designed alternative to a 'proper' lock. They
certainly don't have the same level of security as
a full-on bike lock, but for some situations they
provide just enough peace of mind."
