| Laying it on the line: Nairo will win the Tour. "It
may not be the most courageous of calls but my bet is that I'll be
crowing when the 2016 Tour de France peloton crosses the finish line in
Paris, with Movistar's Nairo Quintana the winner. Here's why. Nairo himself. At 26 he's close to reaching his prime as an athlete. In contrast, his key opponents are all in their 30's, either at their absolute peak, like Chris Froome (31) or on their way to decline, like Alberto Contador (33). Let's say they are in the marginal gains phase of their careers while Quintana still has room for big improvements." (sbs.com.au) June 26, 2016 Peloton reacts to news of Stig Broeckx brain damage. On Saturday, many riders from the pro peloton took to social media to express their sadness, and their support for Broeckx. On Sunday, Lotto-Soudal riders at national championships pinned 'Fight for Stig' labels onto their jerseys." (cyclingweekly.co.uk) June 26, 2016 Axeon’s Tao Geoghegan Hart. "Tao Geoghegan Hart is one of the many young, up-and-coming riders who are the future of cycling. The WorldTour beckons, but at the moment the young man from the London Borough of Hackney is in his third year with the US development team; Axeon Hagens Berman and is racking up a fine palmarès." (pezcyclingnews.com) June 26, 2016 ‘Joy, happiness, pure emotion.’ "Adam Blythe
overcame the sensations of imminent cramp to earn the red, blue and
white national road race stripes in Stockton, describing his victory as
even more special given that he beat Mark Cavendish to the line. The Tinkoff rider was trailing Cavendish by half-a-bike length coming into the final 100 meters but overturned the deficit to edge out the 2011 world champion and grab his first win since RideLondon in August 2014." Competition Cycles has been hard at work rebuilding its distribution

We’ve been reviewing the Ultegra Di2-equipped Norcross EX cyclocross bike, and at Sea Otter 2016, we saw three new Blue Competition Cycles bikes: The ultralight high-mod Dura-Ace-equipped Norcross SL, the more affordable carbon Norcross SP, and the company’s first gravel bike, the Prosecco AL." tish Cycling 'unprofessional and
disrespectful', says Simmonds after Olympics snub.
"Hayley Simmonds
celebrated a second straight British national time trial title on
Thursday, but on Friday she had to stomach the news that she won't be
going to Rio this summer to represent her country at the Olympic Games.
Having not, she says, been personally informed of the decision, the 27-year-old hit out at British Cycling, accusing the federation of 'unprofessionalism' and of failing athletes by not giving them "fair opportunity to utilize their talent." (cyclingnews.com) June

Haute Route Rockies Journal: The dream is over. "It was a fleeting state of focus, of insularity, and intense experience. And now, it’s over. The week is over, the Mavic Haute Route Rockies is over, and in a few ways, it feels like it was a dream. To begin with, it was a dream to imagine I could handle so much riding - 600 miles in a week, three consecutive days of over 100 miles. But it happened, and really, it felt pretty good overall." (velonews.com) June 26, 2016 Will the USA see another Tour de France winner? "A decade ago, at the start of the 2006 season, American cycling was riding on the crest of a wave. Lance Armstrong had sailed into the sunset with his seventh Tour win the previous year and Floyd Landis looked like the heir apparent. American cyclists had not just arrived on the map - they had painted Europe with stars and stripes." (cyclingnews.com) June 26, 2016 Exhaustive motor testing in store for Tour peloton. "A
wide-reaching series of checks for hidden motors in bicycles is to be
employed at the 2016 Tour de France, according to a report in Sunday’s
