Five talking points from stage 21 of the
Tour de France 2021.
"We’ve
acclaimed Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) many times over
the last few years for being the best all-rounder in the
world. How long before we should start talking about him
as one of the best all-rounders the sport has ever
seen?"

Wonder Wout.
"He
won a mountain stage, an ITT and a sprint. This has
happened before, but you have to go back to 1979 to the
reign of Bernard Hinault, who won the final sprint in
Paris while in the maillot jaune, which he secured with
a mix of ITT and mountain stage wins. That is who we are
comparing Wout to."
By Chris Fontecchio (podiumcafe.com) Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty Images July 18, 2021 Mark Cavendish misses out on breaking Eddy
Merckx's record for the most Tour de France stage wins.
"The
British rider, who came into the stage tied on 34 stage
wins with Merckx was beaten to the line by Wout van Aert
and Jasper Philipsen in Paris. However, Cavendish's
third place was enough to secure his second green
jersey."

"After
starting at Chatou on the Seine River and looping to the
west and south of Paris, this final stage reaches the
Champs Élysées circuit after crossing the cobbled
courtyard of the Louvre museum. It should once again go
the way of the sprinters."

"The
Trek Domane SL is a smooth-riding road bike - even an
all-road bike - courtesy of IsoSpeed tech both front and
rear, which helps it damp down small vibrations and
bigger hits. It's not the lightest bike out there, but
if ride quality is your main concern, it's a real
contender."

O'Connor: I hope to wear the Tour de France
yellow jersey one day.
"During
the Tour, O'Connor has not only delivered way beyond
expectations, he also claimed a spectacular solo stage
win in Tignes. He managed to bounce back from AG2R's
disastrous first stage, when he was one of seven of
their eight riders who crashed. In O'Connor's case, very
hard."

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants: The
Tadej Pogačar Era Is Here.
"Helped
by the absence of the penultimate-day time trial drama
that unfolded at last year’s race and a GC battle as
uneventful as the 2014 edition, Tadej Pogačar will ride
into Paris on Sunday to be crowned a two-time winner of
the Tour de France."
By Nick Bull (pelotonmagazine.com) (Image Credit not Found) July 17, 2021 Kwiatkowski says Ineos reverted to
old-school Sky tactics in Tour de France.
"The
circumstances in the Tour changed radically for Ineos
Grenadiers in the first week, with the injuries and time
losses from crashes for their contenders early in the
race abruptly leaving the squad switching its focus from
four leaders to one."

"It
might have drop handlebars and knobbly tires, but the
Salsa Cutthroat C GRX 810 is no normal gravel bike, nor
is it a mountain bike. Instead, it is a hybrid of the
two, designed to tackle the demanding ultra-adventure
race, the Tour Divide."

Chris Froome at the Tour de France.
"The
bike is the same as the model that first appeared at the
Giro d'Italia at the end of May, but at that time it was
completely blacked out, devoid of any branding
whatsoever, leaving no obvious clues as to the brand or
model name."

wheels and also bottles that are being handed out late
in the stage."

Five talking points from stage 19.

his stage 19 victory, Mohorič joins compatriot Tadej
Pogačar and Mark Cavendish as the third riders whose
claimed more than one stage this race, and it's well
deserved, as he has been inexhaustible this race."
By Jonny Long (cyclingweekly.com) (Photo: Chris Graythen/Getty Images) (velonews.com) July 16, 2021 Vingegaard: Tour de France has been a big,
big learning process for me.
"Jumbo
Vismas' Tour was an ill-starred one from the outset when
the bulk of the team went down in a crash on the opening
stage, but they have responded with stage victories
through Van Aert and Sepp Kuss, and, it seems, a place
on the final podium in Paris through the surprising
Vingegaard."

brakes are not as sharp as they used to be and they
suffer badly from fade on moderately long runs. Has the
scoring from getting hot over countless cycles now
impacted their ability to brake well given the disc
surface is “damaged” due to heat?"

What you need to know about stage 19 of the
2021 Tour de France.
"After
a few tough days in the mountains, the sprinters get
their chance to shine again. There’s an early
fourth-category climb and a few lumpy bits throughout
the stage, but it’s hard to see this finishing in
anything but a bunch sprint."
