Milestones for Canada and the US.
"The
USA and Canada both had major milestones this weekend,
with Michael Woods became the second-ever Canadian since
Alex Stedia to wear the KOM leader Polka Dot Jersey on
Sunday’s stage 15 while Sepp Kuss got by far the win of
his career and became the first American to win a Tour de
France stage since Tyler Farrer in 2011."

Lachlan Morton is on track to beat the Tour
peloton to Paris by five days.
"While
there’s an enormous personal challenge at the core of
Morton’s Alt Tour, there’s a bigger ambition too. It’s a
fundraising initiative for World Bicycle Relief. So far,
Morton has raised over £300,000 (US$417,000 / AU$558,000).

France leader Pogacar’s stance on anti-doping controls.
"We
end up in this age-old conundrum of the athlete saying, ‘I
can only speak for myself and what I’ve done. It’s trying
to prove a negative and that’s not possible. What more can
be said about that other than what Tadej said in the press
conference?"
By Alasdair Fotheringham (cyclingnews.com) (Image credit: Bettini Image) July 12, 2021 The 2021 Tour de France podium fight is a
great one.
"Mark
Cavendish is looking to own the most Tour stage win record
outright. Michael Woods is still right in the polka dot
jersey competition - his scrap with Wout Poels has been a
good one. But perhaps the most intriguing is the battle
for the podium, with four riders vying for the two steps
below Tadej Pogačar."

"There’s
plenty of climbing - but even more descending - on this
third Pyrenean stage. It starts with a half-hour
neutralized descent from 2,400 to 1,000 meters in
elevation…and continues downhill until the day’s first
climb starts 40 kilometers later."

Jonas Vingegaard: I'm growing into team leader
role at Tour de France.
"Jonas
Vingegaard clearly knows how to look after himself. The
Dane may be vying for a podium spot in his debut Tour de
France, but his Jumbo Visma team had no qualms about
leaving him to his own devices for much of the haul
through the Pyrenees to Andorra La Vella."

"These
roads in the Eastern Pyrénées have hardly ever featured in
the Tour de France. The riders will be going high, very
high indeed; the third of the day’s four climbs, the Port
d’Envalira, is the “roof” of the 2021 Tour at 2,408 meters
(7,900 feet) above sea level."
