Smith Shift MAG: Cycling Fashion Hits Peak
Performance.
"The
big wrap style has always been a good idea for cycling.
They stay put. Like, shake your head vigorously and
nothing happens. They stay clear. Along the top edge there
are two narrow slits through which air can pass as you
move."

all-Swiss podium.
"The
28-year-old took control on the first of five full laps,
ultimately opening a gap that no-one was able to close.
Long-time rival and reigning world champion Pauline
Ferrand-Prevot (France) had led with Neff for part of the
opening lap, but the Frenchwoman took a tumble late in lap
1."

Olympics?
"Did
Neff’s dropper post save her race? Did van der Poel’s
fixed steatpost end his Olympics? It’s hard to say. Since
the situations were slightly different, it’s not as simple
as saying van der Poel wouldn’t have crashed if he had a
dropper post."

Way cleared for Sam Bennett to rejoin Bora
Hansgrohe after two years.
"Sam
Bennett’s time at Deceuninck Quick Step has been a roller
coaster, though the results have been the best of his
career. However, he will leave at the end of this season
and now a move to Bora Hansgrohe looks more likely, though
it is not confirmed."

Olympic dream.
"It
was her first ever time trial. She finished 25th out of 25
competitors, almost 14 minutes behind Annemiek van
Vleuten. Ignore those metrics: they totally miss the point
of what is one of the great success stories of this
Olympiad."

differences.
"There
a lot of different bikes in the Olympics, from road bikes
and time trial bikes, to track bikes, BMX bikes, and
mountain bikes. At the end of the day, they’re all bikes,
but when you look a bit closer they could not be more
different."

after Tokyo Olympics.
"Yesterday,
after a good start, I felt capable of competing for the
title. Unfortunately, I made an error towards the start of
the race, I slipped on the rocks and lost a lot of time.
After that, I re-set myself to target a medal, and the
moment I moved back up to second, my rear wheel
punctured."

Dlamini grabbed headlines at the Tour de France when he
rode courageously to finish Stage 9 in Tignes despite

hearts of spectators around the world in the men’s Olympic
road race at Tokyo 2020."
