Vuelta a España: Caruso wins on Alto de
Velefique.
"Damiano
Caruso (Bahrain Victorious) enjoyed a fantastic lone
victory atop the Alto de Velefique on stage 9 of the
Vuelta a España, soloing from the break from 70 kilometers out to add another
high-mountain victory to his Alpe Motta triumph at May's
Giro d'Italia."

Alto de Velefique.
"A
tale of two strategies at the Vuelta a España: Jumbo Visma
and Ineos Grenadiers had two riders in the top 10 ahead of
stage 9 but the two leading squads in the race played
their hands in very different ways on the Alto de
Velefique."

"There
is no question about Mr. Walker’s enthusiasm for the
two-wheeled world (actually he does mention multiple or
even single wheels) as the first chapter declares “Cycling
is Brilliant,” and goes on to show exactly why that is,
through multi-tasking (“seeing friends,” “entertainment,”
“showing off your bike,” “drying hair”)."

Mathieu van der Poel's end-of-season plans in
jeopardy due to back injury.
"Van
der Poel has suffered from back pain since the MTB World
Cup in Albstadt back in May but the problem has become
worse in recent weeks. His fall in the cross-country MTB
race at the Tokyo Olympics was not the cause, but the pain
has only increased since then."
