BMC announces URS AL for 2022: Another new
alloy gravel bike.
"It’s
no secret that we’re rather fond of the BMC URS (short
for Unrestricted). It was one of the first gravel bikes
to borrow modern mountain bike geometry principles and
apply them to a lightweight and smooth-riding carbon
frame."
By Dave Rome (cyclingtips.com) (Image Credit not Found) August 30, 2021 Ritchey WCS Streem III with internal
routing.
"The
new Ritchey WCS Streem III handlebar now comes with
internal routing while maintaining its traditional
shape. With a bit of flare and sweep plus a flattened
top section there are plenty of hand positions while
offering a good balance of stiffness and comfort."
By Stu Kerton (road.cc) (Image Credit not Found) August 30, 2021 Koo Orion Sunglasses.
"The
Koo Orion glasses offer a secure fit and a fair amount
of adjustment, which isn't always the case with shades.
Most importantly the lenses deliver excellent clarity
and vision, although the colored tint on this version
limits them to bright days."

Meter Pedals.
"As
you may remember, back in March, Wahoo announced the
development of the Wahoo Speedplay based power meter
pedals, called Powrlink Zero. At the time, they released
some initial information, though didn’t include all
technical or product aspects."

Wahoo Adds New RIVAL Features: Race Distance
Snapping, Find my Phone, and More.
"It’s
been a couple of months since the last Wahoo RIVAL GPS
watch feature update, but true to their word, Wahoo has
continued to add new features to the RIVAL GPS watch.
Some of these race/athletic focused, and some of them
more general focused."

to Getting Around by Bike.
"There
is no question about Mr. Walker’s enthusiasm for the
two-wheeled world (actually he does mention multiple or
even single wheels) as the first chapter declares
“Cycling is Brilliant,” and goes on to show exactly why
that is, through multi-tasking (“seeing friends,”
“entertainment,” “showing off your bike,” “drying
hair”)."

"Marketed
as an “entry level” carbon racing wheelset the VeloElite
350s specification is anything but! Hand built in the
UK, the carbon rims are laced onto DTswiss’ 350 Hubs
with Sapim CX ray spokes. This wheelset is designed for
racers!"
By Paul Horta-Hopkins (cycletechreview.com) (Image Credit not Found) August 21, 2021 BMC URS AL delivers their Gravel+ Geometry
at an affordable price.
"If
you’re looking for a gravel bike with a progressive feel
and a world-class pedigree - that’s also crafted from
aluminum, listen up. The new BMC URS AL series is about
sharing the URS carbon ride and transferring the exact
geometry to the new alloy models."
By Jordan Villella (bikerumor.com) (Image Credit not Found) August 20, 2021 Trek updates Madone SL for 2022 with T47
threaded bottom bracket.
"Trek
has brought the more affordable Madone SL model into
line with its top-end Madone SLR bike for 2022 with a
move from the BB90 press-fit bottom bracket to the T47
threaded standard which Trek now uses across its range
of road bikes."
By Liam Cahill (road.cc) (Image Credit not Found) August 20, 2021 Openwater Swim GPS Test Extravaganza
Results.
"Now
as a quick primer, openwater swim GPS accuracy is
significantly different than regular
running/cycling/whatever accuracy. That’s because each
time your wrist goes underwater for the pull portion of
the stroke, it loses GPS signal."
By Ray Maker (dcrainmaker.com) (Photo: Ray Maker) August 20, 2021 Garmin Rally RK200 Dual-sensing Power Meter
pedals.
"The
Garmin Rally RK200 Dual-sensing Power Meter pedals
perform incredibly well, providing reliable and
consistent power readings while also proving to be
weather resistant, so far. What's really appealing is
the ability to transfer its power-reading spindle from
road to off-road pedals."

and Music.
"The
new Vertix 2 drops a bombshell of features into their
lineup, including full-color topographic mapping, music
playback, dual-GNSS functionality (the first
sports/fitness watch with it), ECG functionality, longer
battery life, and Insta360action cam controls. Plus a
larger screen, titanium alloy bezels/case, and even
WiFi."
By Ray Maker (dcrainmaker.com) (Photo: Ray Maker) August 17, 2021 MicroShift Advent X gravel bike groupset
review: Big range, small price.
"With
a rear derailleur, a wide-range cassette, and a pair of
dropbar shifters all for US$287, you’d be easily excused
for assuming that MicroShift's Advent X drivetrain
components are kinda crummy. Instead, they’re solid
proof that bike parts don’t need to be expensive to
function reliably."

Prime RR-50 V3 Carbon Clincher Wheelset.
"Prime's
RR-50 V3 Carbon Clincher wheelset is an accessible way
into the world of deep carbon wheels. They look
brilliant, are a massive upgrade over stock aluminum
wheels, and they perform really well too. At this price,
they're hard to beat."
By Liam Cahill (road.cc) (Image Credit not Found) August 15, 2021 Schwalbe G-One Allround Evolution.
"The
Schwalbe G-One Allround Evolution is a brilliant
do-it-all summer tubeless tire that rolls extremely well
on the tarmac, is reliable and predictable on gravel,
and performs well on the trails too. It's not a tire for
wet riding, though, and the price is up there."
By Jamie Williams (road.cc) (Image Credit not Found) August 15, 2021 SKS Rennkompressor Track Pump Review.
"The
SKS Rennkompressor track pump is an undisputed and very
long-standing classic first released back in 1966. With
a generous hose, multiple head options and a capability
of 230psi, there are many good things going for this
pump."

years with respect to user privacy. These new features
allow you to significantly change what others can see
about your activities."

"The
Smith Shift MAG sunglasses are a two-lens model with a
more subtly curved profile than traditional wraparound
models, which may be a better fit for people with
flatter face profiles. Optical quality and overall
performance are top notch."

Why slick road tires have the most traction.
"Grooves
are a void in rubber contact with the ground, so in
ideal conditions, a slick tire is best. A groove could
help move water out from under the tire, but the surface
area of a road tire is so small that a groove offers
very minimal benefits even in wet conditions."

Pro Bike: Dhani Jones' custom Speedvagen for
SBT GRVL.
"Former
NFL linebacker Dhani Jones enthused about his lifelong
passion for cycling. How it led to the most unorthodox
of cycle-commutes in which he would ride his fixie to
the stadium on game day - wading through the tens of
thousands of fans - as a way to warm up."
By Josh Croxton (cyclingnews.com) (Image credit: Dhani Jones) August 9, 2021 Diamondback Haanjo gravel bike review.
"The
Haanjo 8C represents the high end of an eight-model
family of gravel bikes, each numbered in succession that
starts with the $785 aluminum Haanjo 1. Within the
family tree, three bikes use a carbon frame, starting
with the $2600 Haanjo 6C."

Profile: An Explainer.
"I’m
sure someone will find this useful - and in many ways,
that’s been Garmin’s strategy for a while - keeping
adding features that a small portion of the population
finds useful. Ultimately covering virtually every use
case and edge case out there."

Do you need a high-impact sports bra for
cycling?
"Sports
bras don’t occupy much of the cycling kit market, but,
for most cyclists with breasts, they’re a necessary part
of everyday wear."

Orro X Repente saddle.
"The
Orro X Repente saddle is fairly lightweight and has the
unusual design element that the upper section can be

comfortable during testing."

distribution and tube shapes, concentrating material
exactly where needed to maximize stiffness and
strength."

"The
Fearless Warlock is one of the new breeds of all-terrain

many off-road trails and keeps the speed up. The
versatile build, thoughtful attention to detail and
decent price point makes the Warlock a competitive,
different and great riding steel frameset."
