Johann Tschopp brought in the
first Giro stage win for Bbox Bouygues Telecom and the first Swiss win
since 1998.
The 20th stage packed nearly
20,000 feet of elevation gain (over five climbs) into just 110 miles of
riding.
A few weeks back I suggested
that the Ivan Basso experiment was over.
Giro d'Italia Stage 20 departs
Bormio at 12:20 CET (6:20am U.S. Eastern) and is expected at the finish
at Ponte di Legno-Tonale between 17:01 and 17:34 CET (11:01am and
11:34am U.S. Eastern). Giro live video streaming is scheduled to get
underway from around 14:00 CET (8:00am U.S. Eastern).
The
organizers of the Giro d’Italia have determined that avalanche risks
atop the race’s tallest climb are low enough to allow the inclusion of
the Passo Gavia in the 20th stage on Saturday.

on Monday night, we were able to catch up while he did a bit
of multi-tasking in his hotel room.

d’Italia, a large breakaway gains a sizable advantage over the maglia
