Daniel Oss of the BMC Racing Team finished 10th for the second straight day at the Tour de France Tuesday on the eve of one of the most anticipated stages of the race.

Staying Out Of Danger

Marcel Kittel (Team Giant-Shimano) won his third stage in four days while the top of the overall standings remained unchanged. BMC Racing Team's Greg Van Avermaet (fourth) and Tejay van Garderen (12th) are two seconds behind race leader Vincenzo Nibali (Astana Pro Team) heading into Wednesday's 155.5 km race that features nine sections of cobblestoned roads. "Our objective is tomorrow with Greg and Tejay," BMC Racing Team Sport Director Yvon Ledanois said. "We want to keep them in good position and there is also the possibility of the yellow jersey for Greg. So it is a good day for the team."

Several prominent riders crashed during Tuesday's 163.5-km stage, including defending champion Chris Froome (Team Sky) and Peter Sagan (Cannondale Pro Cycling). Oss said the BMC Racing Team was fortunate to stay out of trouble. "Today was very hard and very stressful," he said. "We were lucky to keep everyone safe and Tejay in front. In the end, I was there again today and I tried again. But it  was really hard in the sprint. So I will wait for a harder stage."
