Lee Rodgers: Oman diary - The end of desert nights.
Lee Rodgers
It’s almost over. The Arabian Odyssey is to come to an end. One of the single most intense experiences of my life is about to be abruptly interrupted by a 3am wake up call and a drive to Muscat airport for a 5.55am flight to Doha. Then onto Sri Lanka for a stopover, on the way to Malaysia for the ten-day Tour de Langkawi. It’s non-stop, this pro cycling thingy...

Finding the Right Cycling Coach.

"In the winter after my first racing season, I faced a decision: replace my old bike, invest in a set of race wheels, or hire a coach. Each promised to make me go faster, and two appealed to my materialistic side."

CompetitiveCyclist: Book Of Intentions.
SRAM Red 2nd Generation - Bolts
By making the new SRAM Red available initially in the aftermarket form, SRAM has dramatically reduced the cost for the early adopter. They only need to buy the components, not an entire new bike. It's further evidence of SRAM's consumer-first strategy, which is why goodwill for the brand has reached lofty heights.

PEZ Talk: American Trailblazer Bob Mionske.
Bob Mionske
The Olympic road race, Seoul – the year is 1988 and it’s the first big East/West Olympic showdown since the Montreal Games 12 years before. East German Olaf Ludwig restored Eastern honor in Seoul, with West Germans Bernd Grone and Christian Henn taking the other two medals; legendary Soviet sprinter Djamolidine Abdoujaparov took fifth. But in fourth place was an ex-skier who’d only been riding a bike for four years, who says he couldn’t ride GC, couldn’t time trial and in his own words, was ‘built like a wrestler’ – Bob Mionske.

BikeRumor: SRAM X0 Grip Shift Sneak Peak!
SRAM X0 Grip Shift
The internals will have bearings to keep twists super smooth. Aiding the smoothness will be an external, separate locking collar that holds it onto the handlebar without putting pressure on the body of the shifter. Both are pretty big upgrades over the original Gripshift twisters and half pipes.

BikeRadar: Best road bike pedals.
Speedplay zero: speedplay zero
The pedal is an important link between you and your road bike. Of the three contact points – saddle, bar and pedals – the latter is by far the most dynamic. After all, the power that you’re working so hard to generate is all going through the pedals to the crank and ultimately propelling the bike. So getting the right pedal is crucial.
