One year after a complete domination of the Ardennes week, Philippe
Gilbert (BMC) leaves the Ardennes and the whole spring classics season
empty-handed. After chasing his best form during the past months,
Gilbert felt he was finally back in good shape on the eve of
Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The 29-year-old Belgian believed that he would be
able to grab his last chance of a big win in La Doyenne.
CyclingNews:
Theo Bos (Rabobank) won the sprint of the first stage of the Tour of
Turkey to become the first race leader. Matthew Goss (GreenEdge) was
second in the sprint, which was marred by a huge crash shortly before
the finish line. Daniele Colli (Team Type 1) took third, with
Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre) in fourth.

In light of the terrible news that Levi Leipheimer will barely make it

Maxim
Iglinskiy (Astana) attacked out of a small chasing group to catch
Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas-Cannondale) within sight of the flamme rouge
and take the win in the 2012 Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Nibali had jumped
from the field on the penultimate climb and tired to solo in the last
20km, but the Kazakh gave chase to claim his first Classic win.
InnerRing:
For a while it looked like Vincenzo Nibali was going win
Liège-Bastogne-Liège but he was reeled in with one kilometre to go by
Maxim Iglinskiy and the Astana rider sailed past and soloed to the
line, look carefully and you can spot the losing shade of lime green
above. But perhaps this time there was no single winning moment and
today’s race was instead defined by attrition and endurance?
CyclingNews:
Kim Andersen has hit the headlines this week but even the Danish
directeur sportif is probably slightly bemused by the tug of war he’s
central to at RadioShack-Nissan.
CyclingNews:
Theo Bos scored a meaningful victory at the end of stage 1 in the 48th
Presidential Tour of Turkey. As the event is being held this year in
the opposite direction as previous editions, from Alanya to Istanbul,
the Dutchman's success took place in the same town where a dramatic
crash happened in the final sprint three years ago. Following that
incident, he was suspended by the UCI for one month because of he
allegedly tarnished the image of cycling. Ironically, this time Bos
outsprinted Matt Goss who is now a teammate of that crash's victim -
and overall winner - in 2009, South Africa's Daryl Impey.

coolest stories, along comes the incredible hubs from the Kappius

carbon outer shell rotating around an inner hub axle and beautifully
machined aluminum end caps), the hubs are quickly becoming the stuff of
legend for their performance features.
