Timmy Duggan. An intimate insight into a US champion.
Timmy Duggan
TwistedSpoke: "I met Timmy Duggan almost 20 years ago. He and his younger brother were competitive ski racers on the club my wife ran. He came to the club as part of a package; his Mom and Dad got involved too. Timmy was maybe 10 years old and his Dad soon became a board member for the club. Timmy and his brother were always out the door early, and always the last ones off the hill."

One more day...

Bishop and Sornson virtually lock up titles.
Jeremiah Bishop is well out in front in the men's GC
CyclingNews: Tussey Mountain Trail. The crown jewel of the NoTubes Trans-Sylvania Epic. Stage 6 through Rothrock State Forest was intense. Thirty seven miles of beautiful trails surrounded in emerald green hues from the sea of ferns and the brilliant white of blossoming mountain laurel were the playground for the racers left in the TSEpic.

Greipel doubles up...

Stage 2 Report, Results...

Greipel triumphs yet again in Tour of Luxembourg.
VeloNation: Kloeden caught in final kilometre, Engoulvent retains yellow jersey.

Stephen Roche: Wiggins, Evans or Contador could win the triple.
CyclingNews: Stephen Roche, in London this week to promote his autobiography Born to Ride, believes that there are riders in the modern peloton capable of accomplishing his magical triple from 25 years ago. In 1987, Roche became just the second man in cycling to win the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Worlds in a single season. Eddy Merckx had set the precedent 13 years beforehand.

In the groove at the Trans-Sylvania Epic.
Cheryl Sornson: "Hump day is over, and I am excited about the last few days of this race. It has been a tough one."

[Giro d'Italia - Stage Eight] Christian Vande Velde (front) was a key player in Ryder Hesjedal's win at the 2012 Giro d'Italia. Photo: Graham Watson | www.grahamwatson.com
VeloNews: Christian Vande Velde had a front-row seat to history during Ryder Hesjedal’s victorious ride at the Giro d’Italia last month. The veteran American rode unselfishly in the trenches for his Garmin-Barracuda teammate, providing vital support in the mountain stages to help pace Hesjedal into the history books as the first Canadian to win a grand tour.

Broad Support, and Then Some.
King Me
Ted King: "Timmy Duggan’s win in the 2012 U.S. professional national championship road race was phenomenal. If anyone caught a glimpse of either of us after the race, we both welled with emotion that you don’t often see at the giddy circus called a bike race."

One-Game Olympic ban...

Olympic ban to be included in WADA code change.
David Millar (Garmin-Barracuda)
CyclingNews: The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) is to bring in measures to exclude athletes convicted of doping offences from their next potential Olympic Games - even if the ban imposed by their sport's governing body runs out beforehand.

Specialized Demo Team Replica
BikeRumor: According to the PDFs there will be two different completes offered – the Team Replica and Carbon Demo I. Only 250 Team Replica bikes will be offered. The stand out features of the Team Replica bike include a 12×135 mm rear axle (instead of the typical 150mm axle more commonly found on DH bikes) for additional clearance on tight sections of world cup tracks.

Winning at the Exergy Tour – That’s something.
Ending up 1,2,3 in GC the sprinters and mountain jersey. It was a nice week.
Trixi Worrack: There has to be something more to cycling than victories. It is winning with the team and winning in the team. If you have ever experienced how it feels, like you are a lucky one. If not, then it’s a pity. There must be something about that emotion of working and winning as a team. We do have it in any case and we had the opportunity to do it again this week.

Stunner Shades: The Spy Screw.
VeloNews: There is no question that the Screw is designed for cyclists. The sunglasses are lightweight, only 27 grams to be exact, making them two grams lighter than the Oakley Radar. Although a two-gram difference can be chalked up to a manufacturing blip and when on our faces the Screw doesn’t feel any lighter than the Radar.

DT Swiss factory tour.
A reel of steel wire in use:
BikeRadar: Apparently the ‘DT’ in DT Swiss stands for Drahtwerke Tréfileries, the German and French words for ‘wireworks’. So, overall, the name means ‘wireworks made in Switzerland’. It’s appropriate, then, that the factory is now occupying its second site in Biel, the biggest bilingual town in Switzerland. It’s also home to many of Switzerland’s finest watchmakers – Rolex, Omega and Swatch are based there, so any references to DT Swiss hubs running like clockwork are entirely justified.
