Organizers of the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah revealed on Tuesday that
this year's event, scheduled for August 7-12, will increase the overall
distance from 409 miles to 550 miles of racing over six days. New and
refreshed courses along the Wasatch Front will provide 37,500 vertical
feet of climbing, including a new road race on the final day in Park
City via the summit of Empire Pass.

Francisco Mancebo (Competitive Cyclist Racing Team) got off to a good
start Tuesday in his bid to repeat his 2011 Tour de Beauce victory by
winning this year's opening stage. But – unlike a year ago, when a
group of 20 gained 20 minutes – the stage did little to separate the
top general classification rivals, who all finished in the same time
after a chaotic final five kilometres marked by a dangerous breakaway
and two crashes.

Fall riding in Taiwan is amazing. The weather is warm and dry in the
day and cools in the evening. This draws out a lot of cyclists. Winter,
on the other hand, is a lonely affair. Long days are met with low (for
Taiwan) temperatures, and long lone rides are often done in the rain.
The time alone may be unpleasant, but you're taught to handle a bike on
slippery roads. It toughens you up.

40mm outside widths. All four are offered in 26″, and the 30mm and 35mm
widths will be offered in 26″, 27.5/650B and 29er. The 30mm even has a
24″ offering.

Is Andy hosed and hopeless? Depending on who you read, there’s still
time left or there’s no time left to build form for the Tour de France.
Glass half full, glass half empty kind of thing. Form is the great
cycling mystery and while there are roadmaps, human physiology is an
enduring mysterious.

'A person, especially a child, of unusual or marvellous talents' is one
dictionary definition of a 'prodigy' - a term often applied to Taylor
Phinney. Even in the knowledge that his father, Davis was one of the
best cyclists the USA ever produced, and mother Connie was an Olympic
road race champion, it's wholly appropriate in the case of the 21
year-old from Boulder, Colorado.

Peter Sagan made it look easy Tuesday to win a rainy, challenging stage
at the Tour de Suisse for his third victory in four days. The win was
good for young Sagan’s 11th on the 2012 season, moving him within one
of André Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) for the most so far this year among
the elite pros.
Lennard
Zinn: "There is no question that if a rider climbs at constant speed,
it doesn’t matter where the weight is located on the bike. Extra mass
could be concentrated on the pedals, at the rims, in the frame, or in
the hubs, and as long as the bike’s total weight is the same and it has
otherwise the same characteristics, it will create the same resistance
to the rider’s efforts."

Following Team Sky’s collective domination of the climbing stages at
the Critérium du Dauphiné this past weekend, comparisons are being made

Hours after learning that his RadioShack-Nissan team had not included
him on its list of riders pre-selected for the Tour de France due to a

Last week a mate and I were talking about how the time gaps of
breakaways are calculated in World Tour races. The more we thought
about it, we came to the realization that we had no clue of how this is
done. In this day and age you'd expect that race officials would
calculate the time gaps of breakaways using satellite telemetry or some
other high-tech solution.
SinglrTrack:
The first thing you’ll notice when looking at the event page for the
Wilmington Whiteface 100 is that all distances are in kilometers and
meters instead of miles and feet. This appears to be an oddity in a
country where 99.9% of race distances and elevations are reported in
English units, but being part of the 0.1% is what makes the Wilmington
Whiteface a unique event.

For those of you who haven’t had a chance to visit Santa Rosa, Calif.,
