Other former winners include Bobby Julich, Axel Merckx, Cyril Dessel, Jerome Pineau, John Gadret, Linus Gerdemann, Rein Taaramae, and Haimar Zubeldia

Sabine Spitz (Germany) on her way to bronze
CyclingNews: Sabine Spitz hopes to defend her title as Olympic mountain bike champion this coming weekend. The German is looking forward to her fourth Olympics, and "this unique atmosphere" of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Duggan was rewarded for his efforts at the Tour of California.
What was it like being in that break in the Olympic road race? Who better to ask than one of the men who animated the race and did sterling work in the service of his team – United States elite road race champion, Timothy Duggan?

Leadville Trail 100 tricks and trends
SingleTrack: Make every space count. Colby Pearce's bike has a built-in trashcan.

Pedro's Tülio QR multitool is based on the hub-actuated quick release mechanism
BikeRadar verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. "A multitool that subtlety attaches to your bike? That’s brilliant."

De Rosa Milanino
road.cc: Bellissimo, a top frame and decent finishing kit. Treat it to some lighter wheels though.

Tour de Guadeloupe
CyclingFans: The 2012 Tour de Guadeloupe is being held from August 3-12.  Once again there will be live streaming video.

Taylor Phinney
VeloNation: American loses his sprinter in the lead out but takes third in opening stage.

Hincapie. The key to the case.
TwistedSpoke: The deafening noise around the USADA investigation of Lance Armstrong has turned into a battle for jurisdiction between the US anti-doping agency and the non-governing body of the sport, the UCI and mostly president Patrick McQuaid.

VeloNews: Hit by a car while training in Spain in April, he was unable to defend his Amgen Tour of California title — indeed, Leipheimer barely made the start, recovering from a broken leg sustained when he was struck from behind by a car.

Ed Clancy
InnerRing: The success of the British Cycling team on the track is making many jealous. Today L’Equipe reports the French are wondering just what the secret is, are the British using special ultra-low friction ball bearings in their wheels or perhaps exploiting new theories on energy and power?

London Velodrome
PodiumCafe: Sprint and Omnium day. The women's Omnium kicks off with Flying lap, Points and Elimination races.

Great Britain will look to defend their track pursuit gold
CyclingNews: All Olympic track teams have same wheels, says Mavic.

POC Tempor

2013 Louis Garneau LG Course Limited Aero road bike helmet
BikeRumor: When Louis Garneau’s new Course line of premium clothing and gear hit recently, the new aero helmet really stood out as much for what it was as for what it wasn’t. Compared to Giro’s new Air Attack, and, well, any standard road helmet, this looks positively…normal.

2013 Stevens Sonora 29er carbon fiber hardtail mountain bike replaces 26-inch model for USA market
BikeRumor: Stevens’ Sonora 29er carbon hardtail gets a tapered headtube, internal cable routing and a massive box section PF92 bottom bracket. Bike should retail for around $4,000 for this XTR build. Frame is $1,799.

Vyro Segmented Outer Chainring
BikeRumor: For years a small but vocal minority have been heralding the gearbox as the next great revolution in cycling. The advantages over the traditional derailleur system are numerous, and include the ability to shift seamlessly while under load or without pedaling, and their ability to perform flawlessly with virtually no maintenance.

BikeRadar: What's new from Focus Bikes in 2013? We travelled to their base in Cloppenburg, Germany to look at the range. Here's what's on offer in the road, urban and cyclo-cross areas.

Distraction

Leipheimer
VeloNation: Tough US race begins tomorrow in Ogden.

Jeff Louder (UnitedHealthcare) suffered in the break all day at the 2012 Tour of California
PodiumInsight: Want to find Jeff Louder during a race? Look for him at the front working for his team or off the front , in a break. Fierce competitor, the man has a take no prisoner attitude and can be vocal when he doesn’t like what’s going on during a race. Off the bike, the 34-year Salt Lake City native is quite affable and willing to chat.

Italian champion Giovanni Visconti (Farnese Vini-Neri Sottoli) wins the final stage at Settimana Lombarda.
CyclingNews: Late withdrawal of sponsors prompts decision.

Contador
VeloNation: Spaniard speaks prior to today’s start of the Eneco Tour.

The Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah claims to be America’s toughest stage race. A glance at the toothy 2012 course profile is enough to believe it’s true.

Sean Kelly
IrishPeloton: Sean Kelly won the green jersey four times and held the green jersey for a total of 67 stages, but in the battle for the overall classification at the Tour de France he only ever wore the yellow jersey once.

2013-Crank-Brothers-Iodine-29er-wheels-hans-rey
