Jelly Belly's Brad Huff
It was a bitter/sweet US Pro Criterium Championship in Grand Rapids, Michigan for Jelly Belly Cycling’s Brad Huff. Huff was second for the second year, beaten by his friend, but rival on the US crit scene, Ken Hanson of Kelly Benefits. This year, however, has been a great one for the Missouri-native.

Breckenridge, Colorado
Christoph Sauser: "My 14th place at the World Cup in Val d'Isère was more and less what I expected. There were three incidents worth mentioning from the race: my Superman crash on lap two, a bee sting on my tongue, plus the lack of oxygen due to the altitude which sped up our breathing but slowed down our legs. After each sip of drink, I was worried I was turning into an asthmatic!"

BikeRumor: Campagnolo Athena EPS group announced recently trades just a few carbon fiber parts for aluminum to bring the price down, and, at first glance, that’s about it.

L’Avecaise test bike. The result one of the fastest bikes we have ridden.
Off The Beaten Path: Our research has shown that the frame determines the performance of a bike. The frame must work with the rider, allowing them to generate more power with less fatigue. Such a frame will encourage the rider to go faster and ride more.

UCI chief Pat McQuaid is facing a challenge to his organisation's hegemony
Individual pursuit to return in Rio de Janeiro?

road.cc: Garmin's unique GPS tracker arrives, and it raises a question: what is it for?

Cheeky Monkey
BikeRumor: Maybe because they’re usually the stuff of late-night informercials, I’m usually skeptical of do-it-all cleaners.  Powerful on grease, gentle on hands- all that stuff.

Taylor Phinney
VeloNation: American loses his sprinter in the lead out but takes third in opening stage.

TwistedSpoke: The deafening noise around the USADA investigation of Lance Armstrong has turned into a battle for jurisdiction between the US anti-doping agency and the non-governing body of the sport, the UCI and mostly president Patrick McQuaid.

Distraction

Lance Armstrong, Tour de Suisse 2010, stage 8
CyclingWeekly: The UCI says that the USADA has failed to follow due process since charging Armstrong with doping offences.

Mars Curiosity
InnerRing: We’ve had news this week of the NASA mission to send a vehicle to the red planet. It turns out the frame is a Litespeed. The US company is obviously more famous for its bikes than its exploratory vehicles.

Sep_alone_medium
PodiumCafe: "Sep Vanmarcke told the Gazet van Antwerpen (via Sporza) today that he has not signed a contract for next year, fueling speculation that he may not extend with Garmin-Sharp. I don't want to say much about contract stuff, since there is almost no reliable information readily available. I had thought he planned on staying with Garmin."

glued the plastic and the leather
ProblemSolvers:  "I glued the plastic and the leather pretty liberally, and then I wrapped athletic tape around to keep it tight. To keep pressure on the inside, where the cover folds up under the plastic, I jammed a sharpie between the rail and the seat."

Chris Hoy (Great Britain) on the podium
CyclingNews: Scot earns sixth gold medal to close Olympic career.
