Australian Michael Rogers returned to the top of the peloton today, after a lengthy pause in racing due to testing positive for clenbuterol in October, only to be cleared of any wrongdoing just weeks before the start of the Giro d’Italia. (velonews.com)

The Giro d’Italia saw more riders leave the race on stage 11 to Savona. Fabian Wegmann and Luke Durbridge both crashed out of the stage with the Australian leaving the team with five riders after Michael Matthews did not start the stage. Miguel Angel Rubiano was another non starter. Early reports from his team are that Durbridge has broken a collar bone. (cyclingnews.com)

Nacer Bouhanni avoided a huge crash in the final kilometer to take his third Giro d’Italia stage victory in Salsomaggiore. The Frenchman jumped off the wheel of Giacomo Nizzolo to beat the Italian and Michael Matthews. Cadel Evans retained his lead in the race for the maglia rosa.
