VeloNews: The spat comes as the group requested detailed performance numbers from Froome, such as power numbers, heart rate, and VO2 max, data that riders and teams typically are loath to release into the public domain.

CyclingNews: Tuesday's edition of L'Equipe gave more details on the retroactive detection of EPO in the samples of Laurent Jalabert during the 1998 Tour de France.

Photo: L’Equipe reports Laurent Jalabert tested positive for EPO .
DougReport: Like many a scandal it’s not the evil deed but the cover-up that causes controversy. A pro cyclist from late 1990s using EPO? Big deal. But a contemporary media figure stuck in a tangled web of half-truths and denials? Awkward.

CyclingTips: Most of the Aussies in today’s tours have access to the best of everything or close to it – bikes and technology, support staff, accommodation, food, team buses, and so on. But it wasn’t always this way.

Photo: The bike chain works best when it is straight.
RideOn: Keep your chain as straight as possible and your derailleur gears will change more smoothly and need less maintenance.

Photo: One reader had a mountain of trouble getting the front shifting right on a mountain bike equipped with SRAM components. Photo: VeloNews.com.
VeloNews: "The front derailleur is chaotic. The shifting vacillates between not shifting to the big ring (as if the H limit screw is too tight) and throwing the chain to the outboard side (as if the H limit screw is too loose)."

RedKitePrayer: The quest to make the bike go faster never ends. Once the big things are taken care of, it’s time to focus on the little things. And when the little things seem dialed, it’s probably a good idea to check back on the big things, just in case something has changed.

Photo: who has a bottle opener on their key chain?
BikeRumor: Due to how small and compact the Ringtool is, there will certainly be situations where it is difficult to use, but for the majority of trail side adjustments like raising/lowering your seat, adjusting the bar, etc. it looks more than adequate.

Photo: There’s a concise preview of every stage, with my quick take on the day added.
