Bradley Wiggins (Sky) is already in control of the Tour de France as it
departs for its second day today. The Brit superstar gained time on all
of his general classification rivals yesterday in the opening prologue,
but doesn’t have the burden of the race leadership today as he finished
just shy of the best time of Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack-Nissan) —
perfect.
BikeRadar:
Swiss powerhouse Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack-Nissan-Trek) rumbled to
victory in Saturday's prologue, becoming the first rider in this year's
Tour de France to don the maillot jaune. In keeping with recent
traditions, Cancellara was covered in yellow from head to toe for stage

Liquigas coach tips Sagan for future Grand Tour win. CyclingWeekly:
Peter Sagan (Liquigas-Cannondale) came out swinging in his Tour de
France debut with a win. After winning countless races over his first
two years, everyone expected that he'd come to France and at least win
one stage and maybe the green jersey - so far he's failed to
disappoint.
PEZ:
"I still can't get used to seeing Philippe Gilbert in a regular team
BMC jersey. The Belgian champion's tricolor suited him and just looks a
cool kit even if the nation's constitution says the colour order is
red, yellow and black rather than the other way around. He's the
grimacing face of the Tour in the Wallonie region, the local boy made
good."

Luis León Sánchez (Rabobank) was taken to hospital for x-rays after a
crash on stage 1 of the 2012 Tour de France. The Spaniard, and winner
of last year's stage to Saint-Flour, crashed roughly 20 kilometres from
Sunday's finish in Seraing. He finished the stage but lost 4:05 to
winner Peter Sagan (Liquigas).
CyclingNews:
Despite a tumultuous build-up to the 2012 Tour de France, the
RadioShack-Nissan team managed to respond to all the criticism with a
stunning performance from their time trial specialist Fabian
Cancellara. The Swiss rider won the 6.4km long prologue in Liège,
Belgium, and he has the honour of wearing the yellow jersey during the
first stage, a loop from Liège to neighbouring town Seraing.
CyclingIQ:
Tour of Qinghai Lake’s 141 riders tackled the first of the 2012
edition’s ten categorised climbs today. A category-three 600-metre
vertical ascent caused no problem for yesterday’s stage-runner-up Luka
Mezgec (SAVA); taking top honors well ahead of sprint peers that found
the going a lot tougher.

At
this point in the game, if you’re going to bring a new Garmin GPS
cycling computer mount to the market, it should probably do something
different than the recent introductions from Bar Fly, Quarq and 3T.
Uncreatively named “Computer Mount for Garmin Edge”, K-Edge does get
creative where it counts.

This year's Tour de France began with a 6.4km prologue around the urban
streets of Liège, Belgium – a pan-flat, blisteringly fast course that
Fabian Cancellara (RadioShack-Nissan-Trek) completed with an average
speed of 53.21km/h (33mph). Bike choice for the course was all about
aerodynamics and efficiency, not weight.
