CyclingFans: Wednesday's
Tour de France Stage 4 departs Abbeville at 12:10pm CET (6:10am U.S.
Eastern) and is expected at the finish at Rouen at around 5:24pm CET
(11:24am U.S. Eastern). Tour de France live streaming video
should get underway at around 2:00pm CET (8:00am U.S.
Eastern).
CyclingNews:
Team Sky suffered its first major setback at this year's Tour de France
when Kanstantsin Siutsou abandoned the race after crashing 140km into
the stage to Boulogne-sur-Mer. The Belarussian was taken to hospital in
Boulogne, where an x-ray revealed he had a fracture in the tibia bone
of his left leg. Team director Sean Yates described losing Siutsou as
"a major blow because he's an integral part of the team".
InnerRing:
It hard to write about Sagan. He’s so good you quickly run out of
adjectives. Today’s results don’t even tell the full story, he finished
a second clear of the others but in fact had time to look back, sit up,
cross himself and then perform a goofy “running man” celebration. It
makes you wonder what the other riders think.
VeloNation:
Fireworks from thirty kilometers out as crashes decimate the field.
CycleSport:
Should Lotto and the other teams ditch their lead-out trains to make
sprints even more complicated for Cavendish?
SBS:
Slovenian national road champion Borut Bozic has hit out at Tour de
France organisers after becoming the second rider in a year to be
thrown off his bike after being hit by a car.

Australian Tiffany Cromwell (Orica-GreenEdge) went on a solo ride for
over 100km on Tuesday during stage 5 of the 2012 Giro Donne from
Polesella to Molinella, which was expected to end in a bunch sprint.
CyclingNews:
Bjarne Riis struggled with depression and was on the verge of a
collapse this spring. The combination of losing Alberto Contador to a
doping-related suspension, the potential loss of his WorldTour licence
for Team Saxo Bank and the need to find new sponsors was nearly too
much for him, he has said.
VeloNation:
Rumors continue that Alpecin could back a new setup.
VeloNews:
Johnny Hoogerland (Vacansoleil-DCM) and Juan Antonio Flecha (Sky) still
have no answers one year after a car knocked them off the road in the
Tour de France. Besides apologies, they remain empty-handed and
scarred.
CyclingIQ:
Sava’s Luka Mezgec lived up to the promise inferred by the green jersey
on his shoulders, with his second stage win so far in this year’s race.
Mezgec’s victory was even more impressive given it came by way of a
Hors Categorie summit which topped out at 3,816 metres elevation.
CyclingNewsAsia:
With the amount of polution in Beijing you can't blame the organisers
for putting a PR spin on the 'new improved' mountainous parcours.
Recent protests across China show that Chinese people are getting a bit
fet up with absolute mess their environment is in due to the commercial
drive of their government. And you want a professional athlete to
breathe deeply for multiple hours in that mess? To the hills!!
BikeRumor:
Announced in March for the Classics, the Trek Domane 6-Series carbon
endurance road bike line increased with 5-, 4- and 2-series models
recently.
BikeSnobNYC:
£2,399 buys you a full carbon race bike with Shimano's second-tier
electronic shifting. Not bad...
VeloNews:
Fabian Cancellara chose to ride the Trek Domane classics bike he helped
develop, rather than the new Madone like the rest of his
RadioShack-Nissan squad. The big Swiss' seat height is 79.5cm,
and his reach (saddle tip to center of bars) is 63cm. He rides a 58cm
frame.
BikeRadar
verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. "Pricey and fast to wear and puncture, but
performance is exceptional in the meantime."
BikeRadar
verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. "A comfortable, cool, affordable helmet but
best for round heads."

All three of Garmin-Sharp’s GC riders crashed during Wednesday’s third
stage at the Tour de France, with Tom Danielson heading to the hospital
for X-rays.
VeloNation:
Both individuals miss this year’s Tour, but appear eligible for other
races.
CyclingNews:
The Tour of Borneo winner suffered over 20 fractures to his skull and
was initially listed as being in a critical condition but his condition
improved before being moved to intensive care. CAT scans revealed the
cyclist remarkably did not suffer any brain damage. The 26-year-old's
face took the brunt of the impact with his helmet left largely intact.
BikeRadar:
Cannondale staffers made a bet with Slovakian superstar Peter Sagan
(Liquigas-Cannondale) just prior to the final stage of this year's Tour
of California: win a fifth stage (he had already won four) and he'd get
a specially painted bike for the Tour de France.

The Beaten Path: "One rider in town had one of the first Cannondales
(above). Its oversize aluminum frame and indexed Shimano components
were incredibly alluring to me. But the price was steep, because the
U.S. dollar’s exchange rate was high. So I looked for European
offerings instead."
road.cc:
A great saddle that's well worth trying.
BikeRadar:
2012 Giro d'Italia winner Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp) is romping
across the roads of France as a proud Canadian aboard a specially
painted Cervélo R5ca.

Stage 2: Rumors abounded before the Tour’s first real sprint stage that
a certain Manxman had lost his edge as a result of slimming down in his
bid to capture the Gold medal at the upcoming Olympics, but in his own
inimitable style the World Champion spanked said rumors right out of
the stadium by claiming a breathtaking sprint. What more can his rivals
do to stop him? Not much, to be frank.
