In theory, the Tour’s best young rider competition is a straightforward
parallel to the race for the yellow jersey. Take the GC results, strip
out all the riders over the age of 25, and what remains is your white
jersey classification. Come Paris, the lowest time wins. Simple. Unless
you’re Tejay Van Garderen, the young American currently leading the
competition.
VeloNation:
Everybody wants to win on the host country’s national day but the stage

CyclingNews:

threats being sent by SMS. Team bosses have moved in to diffuse the row
and calm has been restored after a week of animosity according to Dutch
newspaper De Telegraaf.

It’s July and it’s happened again. We have labelled somebody as the new
Eddy Merckx, and a French cycling team have managed to make the
headlines in the Tour de France by having their hotel raided and one of
their riders carted away in his Babar pyjamas. Someone skinny, British,
and with a propensity for swearing and crashing is winning.

Unlike Shimano’s Alfine Di2, the NuVinci system “shifts” for you to
keep your cadence at a preset RPM. And, because their hubs are a type
of planetary gear, there’s no actual stepped gears, so it feels
seamless. It’s called Cadence Control and it’s rather unique.

The 2013 S-Works road shoe has been in development for two years and
seen 35 prototypes. The result is what they call the lightest,

strap on the forefoot. The new SL2 FACT carbon outsole has an
asymmetric design, and the entire package tested 7 seconds faster over
a 10k time trial than a competitor’s traditional shoe.
