VeloNews: Helen Wyman (Kona Factory Team) won round two of the Gran Prix of Gloucester on Sunday, making a clean sweep of the weekend’s racing, while Ryan Trebon (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) won Sunday’s muddy contest in what he called “the best ‘cross race in New England.”

Pave': The mudfest that was Gloucester created some great racing and showed that this year will most likely be a battle between Jeremy Powers and Ryan Trebon. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Sven Npys dominated in Belgium while Martin Bina looked unstoppable in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

[Scott Mercier] Former U.S. Postal rider Scott Mercier calls for the UCI to force out Pat McQuaid, Hein Verbruggen. Photo by Brad Kaminski | VeloNews.com
VeloNews: Scott Mercier - "The dethroning of the king, Lance Armstrong, by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency has given many hope that real change is possible for the sport of cycling. But the sport’s governing body, the UCI, led by the hapless Pat McQuaid and Hein Verbruggen, seems intent on continuing the charade."

VeloNation: Case “limited to false accusations... does not concern other opinions of Mr Kimmage.”

Paris Tours
InnerRing: Paris-Tours, The French classic, takes place this Sunday. It’s a race that is slipping away in terms of prestige and is not on the World Tour calendar. But it’s worth watching because if it has been called “the sprinter’s classic.”

[Fuglsang on RadioShack disaster] Jakob Fuglsang says the RadioShack-Leopard merger was a disaster. Photo: Andrew Hood | VeloNews.com
VeloNews: There’s no love lost between Jakob Fuglsang and RadioShack-Nissan boss Johan Bruyneel. After missing out on racing a three-week grand tour this season due to a season-long conflict with Bruyneel, a bitter Fuglsang characterized the merger between RadioShack and Leopard-Trek as nothing short of a “disaster.”

VeloNews: Two years ago, he was a Cat. 4, working his way up the road ranks. One year ago, he was racing for the American development squad Bontrager-Livestrong. Two months ago, he was sitting on a curb in Utah, hiding from the heat, with one black glove and one white.

VeloNews: Ian Boswell is headed to British squad Sky as a WorldTour rookie for 2013. The 21-year-old American, second at the U23 Liège–Bastogne–Liège this year, will join Sky after riding as a stagiaire at Argos-Shimano this fall.

Philippe Gilbert (BMC Racing Team) quits the race after a crash
CyclingNews: "My season ends badly, just as it started," World champion Philippe Gilbert said with an ironic smile, following the crash that forced him to abandon the Giro di Lombardia on Saturday, the last race of his his 2012 season.

Scotsman: Hamilton - "The culture of the sport was dirty from the top to the bottom. And we need to look at that and for the UCI to admit [last weekend] that they had no part in anything that went wrong is pretty upsetting. [UCI president] Pat McQuaid said they had nothing to apologise for. That’s just mind-boggling. From what I can see, all the UCI is doing is suing Paul Kimmage [the former rider and journalist] for speaking out about this, for asking the tough questions that needed to be asked. Everybody needs to be strong with Paul. There needs to be an uprising.”

Lance Armstrong won
CoronadoPatch: "Lance Armstrong won Sunday’s SuperFrog Triathlon in a course record – living up to his pre-race declaration: “I am not banned from life.”"

Garmin manager Jonathan Vaughters
CyclingNews: The UCI has reportedly been offered a stake in the muted breakaway league project, as a way of convincing the international governing body to allow the race series to go ahead.

The expected stars of the Giro d'Italia 2013
RoadCycling: "The news that I really liked this week was twofold. The first is cyclocross season is truly underway and two: the announcement of the 2013 Giro d’Italia route."

This is was a cycling event made up of 7500 enthusiastic riders looks like.
RBAction: Leipheimer brings in 7500 of his closest friends for a fun day, in and out of the saddle.

Andy finished with all of his teeth!
CyclingPlus: There is one branch of the sport that remains resolutely quirky. Described by one journalist as the “ugly redheaded stepchild of cycling”, cyclocross remains sidelined in this country – its dedicated band of followers plugging away on small local courses with little or no publicity.

[David Walsh in The Sunday Times] David Walsh writes in The Sunday Times that USADA's report on the Armstrong decision will make uncomfortable reading for the UCI.
VeloNews: Walsh says the report contains details of what he called a “doping conspiracy that underpinned the success of the world’s top cycling team, U.S. Postal Service, and its leader Armstrong,” during 1999-2004.
