VeloNews: There was hope that truth telling would be contagious, that the dark waters of cycling may finally flow to the surface and that riders, coaches and doctors could come clean. That hope took a beating on Tuesday when Omega Pharma-Quick Step fired Levi Leipheimer after he told the truth publicly about his past doping and contributed to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s case against Lance Armstrong.

RedKitePrayer: "We are now entering the nuclear winter  following the release of USADA’s “reasoned decision.” The initial casualties were all the riders whose doping activity was detailed in the voluminous files released by USADA. They are tantamount to the initial deaths caused by a nuclear blast. Now, the fallout.

InnerRing: In order to survive the team is changing so much that its identity and attitude could be gone. A team famous for its attacking style could now end up with the soul of a spreadsheet and the spirit of a rulebook.

The race leader, Oscar Pujol (Azad University Cross Team) at the start
CyclingNews: After two years racing with Cervélo Test Team and then a year with Omega Pharma - Lotto in 2011, Spain's Óscar Pujol found himself out of a job - for the second time in his short career. He secured a contract with the Iranian-registered Azad University team for 2012 but Pujol now admits that it hasn’t provided him with sufficient opportunities to return to the WorldTour.

Expect to see Lance Armstrong in suit and tie this fall if his case goes to arbitration
CyclingNews: The New York Daily News has suggested that sportswear company Nike decided to stay loyal to Lance Armstrong despite the overwhelming evidence of doping against him because it may have played an active part in what USADA described as “the most sophisticated doping program in sports history”.

VeloNews: “While I became aware of Floyd’s attempt to dope himself and Levi [Leipheimer] in 2005, my actions were neither complicit nor complacent and I made it clear that this wasn’t right, encouraging them as much as I could at the time to ride clean,” Lim wrote.

VeloNews: Spain’s reputation as a dopers’ haven is not getting any help from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s investigation against Lance Armstrong. Three Spaniards were key players in the long-running doping ring and Spain became the haven for the U.S. Postal Service’s efforts to acquire illicit doping products and avoid controls.

VeloNews: “Never seen it on the team. Never heard about it. Never seen it,” Horner told VeloNews Monday afternoon. “It’s just disappointing, everything you see, everything you read.”

TwistedSpoke: How to explain some of the reactions of late? After a the 200 page USADA “reasoned decision” destroyed any pretense that he never doped, after seeing his legend destroyed in public, Lance Armstrong claims he is “unaffected.” No reaction, huh? Just figure this whole thing will blow over?

CyclingNews: Dr. Michele Ferrari has hit back at accusations that he masterminded Lance Armstrong’s doping regime and that of many other riders during the last 20 years.
