Lance Armstrong and Pat McQuaid, who is the President of the UCI
Dave Moulton: "I find the current news stories that are dominating the sport of cycling these days, extremely disturbing; namely the whole issue of doping in professional cycling."

Oscar Freire Gomez (Katusha)
CyclingNews: Triple world champion Oscar Freire has officially retired from the sport. He will not be at the start line in Sunday's Paris-Tours, his Katusha team announced.

Paris Tours
InnerRing: Labelled “the sprinters’ classic”, this Sunday’s race might have a flat route and a long finishing straight but in fact most of the winners since 2000 have come from breakaways and attacks. Since the majority of bike races end in a bunch sprint, it means the race is far from the foregone conclusion its title suggests and it can offer an action-packed final half-hour.

Riders who take part in both the USA Pro Challenge and the Canadian WorldTour races, such as the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, will have the six-day Tour of Alberta to fill the gap next year between the events.
CyclingNews: North America has a new UCI-ranked stage race for 2013 with the debut of Canada's Tour of Alberta, slated for September 3-8. The UCI 2.1-ranked, six-day event's position on the calendar will provide an ideal bridge between the UCI 2.HC-rated USA Pro Challenge, taking place August 19-25 in Colorado, and the two Canadian WorldTour races, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal scheduled for September 13th and September 15th respectively.

Boasson Hagen
VeloNation: Swift rules himself out, leaving team with just five riders.

CXMagazine: Last week, we saw Sven Nys show the cyclocross world that he’s not yet done being one of the best in the business, as he took Niels Albert at the line at both the Soudal GP Neerpelt and the Vlaamse Industrieprijs Bosduin at Kalmthout.

John-Degenkolb
Bicycling: After taking five stage wins at the Tour of Spain and fourth place at worlds, the big German is eager to end his season in winning style.

CyclingNews: More...

the scenery was distracting us and the sun had now come out for our glorious summer outing.
PEZ: Sometimes just riding in the most beautiful scenery on the planet is enough. At least that’s what participants in the Gruyerè Cycling Tour held every August should feel entitled to believe.

Hesjedal
VeloNation: Hesjedal, Nibali, Contador, Cavendish and Rodriguez speak.

Lance Armstrong (USA) was one of the strongest riders in the 1998 worlds, seen here stretching Markus Zberg in an early break
CyclingNews: Within the next week Lance Armstrong, the UCI and WADA will be sent a file from USADA in which the American anti-doping agency will detail their "reasoned decision" as to why they stripped Armstrong of his seven Tour de France titles and handed him a life-time ban.

Bound for Switzerland?
TwistedSpoke: With UCI President Patrick McQuaid facing a firestorm of criticism for his lawsuit against anti-doping crusader and journalist Paul Kimmage, the calls forMcQuaid to step down have hit new highs.

Philippe Gilbert
VeloNation: New rainbow jersey meets the press.

Andrew Talansky
Peloton: It was not too long ago when North American cycling fans were wondering when this continent would produce a new generation of champions. Riders such as Greg LeMond, Andy Hampsten, Steve Bauer, Ron Kiefel and Davis Phinney set the bar high with overall victories and stage wins at the grand tours in the 1980s and ’90s.

Frank Schleck (RadioShack-Nissan) in Liege for the start of stage 1 at the Tour de France.
CyclingNews: Fränk Schleck's hearing before the Luxembourg Anti-doping Agency has been put back one week and will now be hold on Monday, October 15, the agency has announced. There was no reason given for the delay.

Thomas Frei and Christine Hembo of Christine Watches-Onfone
CyclingNews: Michael Rasmussen's team Christina Watches Onfone will undergo massive changes in the coming year, and no longer considers itself a Danish team. Nine of the 17 riders are leaving the team, as is its only sport director. The team will also concentrate more on international races and less on domestic races in Denmark.

USACycling: Fall seemed to settle over Blacksburg, VA this weekend for the Virginia Tech Mountain Bike Race. Partly cloudy skies, cooler temps, and falling leaves made starting off the day with a grueling 1.14 mile uphill TT almost bearable.

Jason woznick of fairwheel bikes built this new ultimate warp 29er for himself. it's draped in high-end exotica and weighs in at a claimed 7.71kg (17lb):
BikeRadar: Enve Composites didn't show any new products at Interbike but the Utah-based company has often made a habit of showcasing boutique machines from supportive manufacturers in its booth, and this year was no different. BikeRadar spotted a few stunners from Parlee Cycles and New Ultimate.

VeloNews: By the time the last of the confetti hit the floor at Sky’s post-Tour de France party, it was accepted as fact that Mark Cavendish would leave the team at the end of the season. His contract may have booked him through 2014, but the Tour-winning squad’s less-than-secret desire to focus solely on GC wins at the grand tours means there isn’t much of a life to be had there for a top-tier sprinter – even one that is bandied about as a potential best-ever.

Distraction

VeloNews: Professional road cycling enters its offseason after Sunday’s Paris-Tours and next week’s Tour of Beijing, but the international cycling federation, the UCI, is busy with Irish journalist Paul Kimmage and other legalities.

Richard Pound
VeloNation: Former WADA president speaks on doping, Landis, USPS and a range of topics.

Embattled Tour de France leader Michael Rasmussen (Rabobank)
CyclingNews: After the Arnhem court reached a stalemate in the case between Michael Rasmussen and his former team Rabobank in June this year, two witnesses will be called to give evidence on November 12.

[2012 GP Gloucester, day 2, men's podium] Ryan Trebon tops the elite men's podium with Jeremy Powers and Ben Berden in second and third. Photo: BrakeThrough Media
VeloNews: Ryan Trebon finds himself this cyclocross season having jumped straight into the lion’s den. Riding as a lone ranger in 2011-12 with mechanic/manager Dusty Labarr under the pair’s LTS-Felt moniker (LTS stood for Labarr Trebon Sports), Trebon was on par with his best seasons when he was healthy, but a leg injury suffered at the Derby City Cup in November put him out of commission for more than a month.

Will Walker (Drapac) wins the Tour of Gippsland's eighth stage
CyclingNews: Will Walker (Drapac Professional Cycling) has celebrated a return to racing with victory on Stage 6 of the Tour of Tasmania on Friday afternoon.

The post will be available and will sell for $259. You can find more info at RitcheyLogic.com.
PEZ: This post is about compliance and the shape design tells a bit of the story (the little dent and reduced material section at the back, below the seat clamp). The carbon Layup does the business here, using a specific process developed for Scott, Stevens and Canyon bicycles to flex 15% more than a standard layup would have.

Unior 1600E1N bike toolbox
BikeRadar verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. "A wealth of great quality tools, some of which are unusual, plus a handy apron."

Fizik's redesigned arione range features the same upper profile as the most recent version but with a sleeker profile and all-new shells. don't let the new lines fool you - the length is unchanged at 30cm, just like before: fizik's redesigned arione range features the same upper profile as the most recent version but with a sleeker profile and all-new shells. don't let the new lines fool you - the length is unchanged at 30cm, just like before
BikeRadar: "We’ve spent the last few days riding the Fizik R3 in the Italian hills, and our first impressions are good."
