CyclingFans: The 2012 Soudal Classics Cyclocross series (previously Fidea) continues Sunday, December 16 at Leuven. Live streaming video: 2:30pm CET (8:30am U.S. Eastern).

CyclingIQ: The AsiaTour expands its reach again this season as, for the first time in history next week, a UCI-sanctioned professional road cycling race takes place in Vietnam. From 17-22 December, 21 teams will race 794 kilometres in and around the nation’s largest urban population of Ho Chi Minh City.

VeloNation: Colombian riders ready to attack the three week races.

Photo: Georgia Gould has had a strong domestic 'cross season, but her lack of European racing — or results — has plummeted her world ranking and, by extension, her start call-up for Louisville worlds.
It’s hard to recall Georgia Gould’s inconsistent 2011 cyclocross season, marked with struggle and bad luck, after her stunning season across the off-road disciplines of mountain biking and cyclocross in 2012. But she is still paying the price for last year.

Photo: Lars Boom (Blanco) is looking to make another stride forward in the classics in 2013..
CyclingNews: Blanco rider on classics challenge and Van Vliet.

Photo: From pushing gear with a metal rod to electronic shifting, the bicycle drivetrain has come a long way.
BikeRadar: The history of the bicycle drivetrain is complex, but its modern form goes back to the first “safety bicycle” known as the “Rover,” which was developed in 1885 by John Kemp Starley.

Photo: Radioshack's Chris Horner.
CyclingNews: US veteran talks about Armstrong, dope testing and his desire to race .

InnerRing: The UCI likes to say it led the way in anti-doping.

PodiumCafe: The European season takes a pause before a flurry of races, but the stars still drop by Leuven for a race on Sunday.

Photo: Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) is the overwhelming favourite to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year (SPOTY) award.
VeloNation: Tour de France winner still not aiming for celebrity lifestyle on the eve of BBC Sports Personality.

PEZ: It's Italian, 100% electric, beautifully designed and is coming to a marketplace near you - it's the Tiso wireless 12 speed groupset.

Photo: Wheel building takes a great deal of patience and thoroughness.
BikeRadar: In recent years the century-old art of building wheels by hand has almost died out. A skill which has been around since the first bikes, it has been usurped by mass produced, machine-built wheels.

Photo: The Secret Race.
road.cc: 2012 has been a vintage year for cycling publishing - here's a dozen books to grace any cyclist's wishlist.

Photo: The great cycling power grab.
CyclingWeekly: Is professional cycling about to undergo a coup?

CyclingNews: Tour returns to United Kingdom for first time since 2007.

VeloNews: Great Britain will celebrate the Tour de France’s 20th start abroad in 2014, and a long history of grand tours making smart business deals with European neighbors.

PodiumCafe: With two news items of note, and not a ton to say about either, let's go to the Notes format.

Distraction

CyclingNews: Florence bid had planned to honour 100th anniversary of Gino Bartali's birth.

Photo: The Burke-Gilman Trail is a great way to get out of Seattle, and on this weekday, it’s almost deserted.
Off The Beaten Path: A typical ride doesn’t leave the urban area, and takes about 3 hours. For the most part, our rides are similar to those of the average “weekend warrior.” The big rides are like eight-course dinners: rare, memorable events that have little in common with everyday life.

Photo: Preset to 4Nm, 5Nm and 6Nm, these t-handles will get your hardware to the correct torque setting.
MBAction: Steel, aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber found on bikes makes for a confusing mix of materials.

Photo: The efneo system is still in development.
BikeRadar: You often hear that there is no need to reinvent the wheel, but it does seem that every other part of the bicycle is completely open for discussion.
