CyclingFans: The 2012 Superprestige Cyclocross - Diegem (Belgium) is Sunday, December 30. Live streaming video: 5:00pm CET (11:00am U.S. Eastern).

Photo: Sven Nys has just enough time to acknowledge victory as he beats Niels Albert in Bredene.
VeloNews: A day after crashing twice and confronting a drunken beer-flinging spectator at the Azencross in Loenhout, Sven Nys (Landbouwkrediet-Euphony) bounced back to out-kick world champion Niels Albert (BKCP-Powerplus) for the win at the Versluys Cyclocross in Bredene.

Pavé: It’s another weekend without racing in the US, and there’s just three races in Europe.

Races & Results.
Giro d'Italia - May 4-26 (Stages),
Tour of California - May 12-19 (Stages),
Tour de France - June 29-July 21 (Stages),

CyclingNews: Expresses frustration with UCI, state of pro cycling.

VeloNation: Belgian champion crashes twice in Loenhout but abandons after storming into the crowd.

VeloNation: Nightmare day for Sven Nys sees Albert take control in overall Trofee standings.

VeloNews: Sanne Cant (Enertherm-BKCP) won the Azencross at Loenhout on Friday, taking a two-up sprint with Nikki Harris (Telenet-Fidea). Katerina Nash (Luna) rounded out the podium in third.

Photo: The D211 road climbs out of Bourg d’Oisans to the ski resort of Alpe d’Huez at 1,860 metres above sea level.
InnerRing: Alpe d’Huez is first as it’s one of road cycling’s most famous routes, an Alpine theater that has become famous and even had books written about it. Next summer the Tour will climb the road twice in one day.

RedKitePrayer: It’s been a huge year. It started out with Simon Gerrans’ win at the Tour Down Under last January and ended, I don’t know, maybe last evening when Bradley Wiggins was knighted, a reward for winning Olympic gold on home turf and, of course, doing rather well in that three week jaunt around France earlier in the year.

SBS: Lance Armstrong missed the deadline to lodge an appeal over being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for systematic doping, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced.

Photo: We had stopped in a green forest for what would have been a nice, forgettable scenic, but then the skies opened up with first rain, then lots of it, then hail.
CyclingTips: A selection of some of their best images.

Photo: Tom Boonen, Velo June 2012. Photo by Tim de Waele.
VeloNews: When Tom Boonen crossed the finish line, alone, inside the hallowed velodrome of Paris-Roubaix, he’d done much more than just win the sport’s most demanding classic.

Photo: An excellent aluminium frame and carbon fork, with quality Easton finishing components.
BikeRadar verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. "A superbly equipped cyclocross machine with a nod to some all-rounder ability."

TwistedSpoke: Armstrong successfully headed off muckracking journalists for over a decade by labeling them “trolls.” However the lack of a disparaging and memorable label for the anti-doping CEO made efforts to discredit him a difficult task.

InnerRing: As the 2013 season approaches here is a selection of riders to watch for. I’ve picked six established riders who face different challenges in the new year and six young riders who could impress but first have to hop the chasm from amateur and pro.

Photo: Dr Michele Ferrari leaves a tribunal in Bologna, Italy in 2004.
CyclingNews: Benedetto Roberti, the Italian investigating judge who has uncovered key evidence against Dr. Michele Ferrari and a long list of his clients, has given a rare interview with Tuttobici magazine, claiming that little has changed in the sport, with new, undetectable versions of EPO and other doping products still being used by professional, amateur and even Gran Fondo riders.

Photo: Danish rider Rasmussen isn’t presuming anything.
VeloNation: Danish rider pledges to work hard to try to secure place.

Photo: Chris Hilton is product manager at SRAM, and the man behind 11-speed XX1 gearing.
BikeRadar: Chris Hilton is the mountain bike drivetrain product manager at SRAM and responsible for the team that turned transmissions up to 11. One more gear may not sound much, but there’s far more to XX1 than that.

road.cc: "Every day I am getting better" says BMC rider and 2008 road race world champion.

VeloNation: Previously-banned rider cannot race until signature is received.

Peloton: "I think it’s pretty hard for this generation of women to appreciate what it was like in the 1980s. On the one hand you can look at pictures of us and our equipment, like friction shifting, and say, “Well, that was the ’80s.” On the other hand, you can look at the crowds who watched us at the Coors Classic and say, 'Wow, we don’t get that.'"

VeloNation: Kiwi will become assistant directeur sportif with Orica GreenEdge.

CyclingNews: Erik Dekker and Marc Wauters have both denied having used doping while riding for Rabobank. Both are now sports directors with WorldTour teams, and made the denials in light of allegations made by an anonymous former Rabobank rider and details which have emerged from the USADA reasoned decision in the Lance Armstong case.
