Photo: New BFFs Chris Froome and Richie Porte (Image: skysports.com).
Saddleblaze: Tasmanian Porte finished with a flourish to secure a double one-two for Sky – in both the stage and on GC. It was a job well done which “panned out more or less how we expected,” according to Froome. Porte agreed. “Tactically we were spot on today,” he said without any rancour at having lost the maillot jaune to his team-mate.

VeloNews: As runners participating in the prestigious Los Angeles Marathon were just starting to rouse for their big race in the early hours of a Sunday morning earlier this month, the city’s underground cycling community was already several beers deep, celebrating the victors in their own event along the same 26.2-mile route.

Leading into the frenetic seven days of “Holy Week,” which includes cycling’s two cobbled monuments, the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) on Easter Sunday and Paris-Roubaix the next, the nation has yet to notch a win on its own hallowed grounds.

Photo: What do you use to lubricate your chain? Regular oil or paraffin wax?
VeloNews: "There is a study that may help explain why paraffin works – it does a good job taking up space in between all the chain’s parts. One surprising finding – the lube doesn’t have much effect on a chain’s efficiency."
