Lizzie Armitstead
VeloNation: No replacement for Olympic silver medallist sees Great Britain’s women reduced to five.

road.cc: Aero carbon clinchers from Mavic arrive for testing.

Zipp 101 wheelset
BikeRadar verdict: 4 out of 5 stars. "Truly stunning handling from a deceptively aero wheelset."

Ennello Alpe d' Huez Primo stem 2
road.cc: A light aluminium stem with added flair.

Neil Pryde Alize,
RedKitePrayer: The Alize was a pretty nice bike. If anything, it reminded me of Felt’s Z bike before its newest incarnation. There was plenty of stiffness to be responsive but not so much stiffness you wanted to take air out of the tires. The handling was very predictable.

SingleTrack: With only a single front chainring, the SRAM XX1 system has been hard for many riders who are neither cross-country racers nor gravity types to get their heads around.

SingleTrack: “650b bikes will most certainly replace 26” for everything except entry level,” was Jamis mountain bike product manager, Sal Crochia’s take.

RedKitePrayer: "This week, I’ll continue the story from where I broke off, at the 1998 Tour de France, when the French team Festina was thrown out for organized doping. What the Festina Affair revealed was the degree to which EPO had transformed cycling in the worst possible way."

CyclingNews: The USADA said it will still be a while before it is ready to pass along its information to the UCI and the WADA.

Distraction

The Tour of Qatar peloton during stage 4.
CyclingNews: Qatar has been awarded the 2016 UCI Road World Championships, it was announced Wednesday. Cyclingnews first revealed in August that the bid was on track, with this year’s Worlds in Valkenburg named as the location for the Qatar announcement.  No dates have yet been announced.

Phinney
VeloNation: American heartbroken, Belarusian elated, both motivated by result after defeat to Tony Martin.

Emma Pooley leads the Garmin-Cervelo team
CyclingNews: Bradley Wiggins supports professional women's cycling and is in fact ready to put his money into it. He would be willing to make a financial investment in a “full-on” elite women's team, he has said.

Pedro's bench in a box
BikeRadar verdict: 5 out of 5 stars. "All the tools you could need in one simple box, with quality the order of the day."

Among the looxcie 2's mounting options is an earloop for true real-time, pov streaming on demand:
BikeRadar: The miniscule Looxcie 2 certainly takes a different approach to many video cameras, concentrating on what people tend to do with footage instead of absolute image quality. Maximum resolution is a modest 480p but Looxcie has made it remarkably simple to share your view of the world – instantly.
