Giro d'Italia plan
InnerRing: The route of the 2013 Giro has been unveiled. Like the Tour de France, information about the race leaks out ahead of the presentation but today’s the chance to take the individual stages and stitch them together into a three week story.

Jürgen Roelandts
VeloNation: French champion finally prevails as stage one winning Belgian does “la course en tête” in four-day race.

VeloNews: Helen Wyman (Kona Factory Racing) and Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) prevailed on Saturday during day one of the Gran Prix of Gloucester, the first stop on the 2012 Shimano New England Professional Cyclocross Series.

USACycling: The penultimate day of the 2012 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships featured plenty of excitement that ended with four new national champions being crowned.

2012 Tour de Wallonie Picarde - Franco-Belge
CyclingFans: The final stage (Stage 4) of the 2012 Tour de Wallonie Picarde - Franco-Belge is Sunday.  There will be live streaming video for this stage. Live streaming video: 2:00pm CET (8:00am U.S. Eastern).

A triumphant Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha)
CyclingNews: Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) soloed to victory in the pouring rain to become the first Spaniard to win the Giro di Lombardia. The petite Spaniard had escaped on the day's final climb, and was able to stay away from a strong chase group. Second place went to Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel-Euskadi), with Sky's Rigoberto Uran taking third.

Marcel Kittel
CyclingNews: Roelandts retains overall lead.

[Gilbert dreams of rainbow win] Philippe Gilbert was relaxed and hopeful ahead of Saturday's Giro di Lombardia. Photo: Gregor Brown | VeloNews.com
VeloNews: Philippe Gilbert has dreamt about winning his first race in the rainbow jersey on Saturday. BMC Racing’s Belgian arrived in Italy on Friday, one night before his debut race, the Giro di Lombardia.

The women's keirin came down to a photo finish.
USACycling: It was another exciting day of racing at the 2012 USA Cycling Elite Track National Championships on Friday with four elite national titles awarded, plus another six national titles awarded in the para-cycling categories.

Tyler Hamiltons revelations dont just damn Lance Armstrong but the whole sport. Picture: AP
Scotsman: Hamilton - "The culture of the sport was dirty from the top to the bottom. And we need to look at that and for the UCI to admit [last weekend] that they had no part in anything that went wrong is pretty upsetting. [UCI president] Pat McQuaid said they had nothing to apologise for. That’s just mind-boggling. From what I can see, all the UCI is doing is suing Paul Kimmage [the former rider and journalist] for speaking out about this, for asking the tough questions that needed to be asked. Everybody needs to be strong with Paul. There needs to be an uprising.”

CyclingIQ: Near-perfect racing conditions usually provide solace to pro cyclists but, to rivals of Tabriz Petrochemical Team, it meant fewer opportunities for race leader Hossein Askari – going into today’s 104 kilometre stage with a 24″ advantage – to come unstuck.

Sven Nys
VeloNation: Belgian champion outsprints Niels Albert again; Sanne Cant gets the better of Nikki Harris this time.

BikeRadar: You want to get faster against the clock. You want to know if you spend X you will get Y time savings in return. Problem is, you're bamboozled by a plethora of marketing hype and scientific data put out by companies who want you to buy their stuff, whether it be snazzy equipment or even time in a wind tunnel. Where do you start?

2012 Cyclocross Bosduin Kalmthout
CyclingFans: The 2012 Cyclocross Bosduin Kalmthout is Sunday, September 30. Live streaming video: 5:00pm CET (11:00am U.S. Eastern).

Joaquim Rodriguez Lombardia
InnerRing: The Muro di Sormano. The first Spanish winner of the race. The race moved to September. The new world champion crashing out. For all the novelty and action this year’s edition might also be remembered for the rain that poured almost all day long.

Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) wins Il Lombardia
CyclingNews: The climb of the Muro di Sormano did not ultimately decide the Tour of Lombardy – although the greasy descent would end Philippe Gilbert’s challenge – but by the time the curtain had fallen in Lecco, it turned out that its vertiginous slopes had quietly doled out a verdict all the same.

Sven Nys
VeloNation: Belgian champion takes first win of the season as Nikki Harris takes first of career in women’s race.

Wiggins
VeloNation: Says 2012 Tour champ can become a ‘legend’ by winning all three Grand Tours during career.

Off The Beaten Path: Even though randonneuring officially is an “unsupported” sport, organizing a brevet means manning controls and, usually, providing substantial food at an overnight control, where riders also can rest for a few hours during the brevet.

Distraction

[David Walsh in The Sunday Times] David Walsh writes in The Sunday Times that USADA's report on the Armstrong decision will make uncomfortable reading for the UCI.
VeloNews: Walsh says the report contains details of what he called a “doping conspiracy that underpinned the success of the world’s top cycling team, U.S. Postal Service, and its leader Armstrong,” during 1999-2004.

Lance Armstrong has been a huge part of George Hincapie's career
CyclingNews: Lance Armstrong's ex-wife, Kristin, is said to have not only known about but also participated in his doping practices, helping to refrigerate EPO and distribute drugs to US riders at the 1998 World Championships, according to a report with alleged details from the USADA's "reasoned decision" on its lifetime ban for Armstrong.

2013 Giro d'Italia Route
CyclingFans: The 2013 Giro d'Italia route will be officially revealed Sunday.  2012 Giro champion Ryder Hesjedal, Joaquim Rodriguez and Alberto Contador are among riders in attendance. Live streaming video: 1:40pm CET (7:40am U.S. Eastern).

“because I f’in’ hate bullies.”
RedKitePrayer: The Paul Kimmage Defense Fund is now up to $43,730.49 and growing. That is an incredible show of support from 1369 donors and the news is even better than that.

Gilbert
VeloNation: “Lucky I crashed now and not one week ago,” says new world champion.

Images: Mike Murano
CyclingIQ: As expected, Iran’s Tabriz Petrochemical Team and Malaysia’s Terengganu Cycling Team have been asserting themselves as key favourites in the general classification but, at the race’s mid-way point, the Vietnamese team of second-placed Duc Tam Trinh is showing itself to be no easy pushover.

Gang Xu (seen here in action at the USA Pro Challenge) is the Chinese national road champion for the fifth time
USCyclingReport: Gang Xu of the Champion System Pro Cycling won the Chinese national road title Friday by soloing away in the final seven kilometers of the 180 km race in Changsha.
