Reigning USA cyclocross champion Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) started

Grant: "Fall is probably my favorite time of year. Maybe it is because
I grew up in Vermont where the foliage was amazing, the weather was
nice, and the bugs had gone away for the year. There's something about
riding in the woods in with the leaves changing and falling on the
trail that is oddly soothing. Then there's the smell of fall. Even if
it's just decomposing leaves and vegetation, it seems like it clears
your head and lungs out."

Recently the appearance UCI President Pat McQuaid at a race has
coincided with boos from the crowd. Perhaps it could be said the Dutch
fans last Sunday were slightly annoyed at a Belgian victory
and taunted Gilbert. But this can’t explain the noise when
McQuaid appeared at the Olympics.
TwistedSpoke:
Does it feel like the dam has finally broken? We have UCI president
McQuaid embarrassed and exposed, former UCI head Hein Verbruggen outed
as bombastic, vindictive and uninformed, Lance Armstrong, the most
powerful pro cyclist of the dark doping years, stripped of his seven
Tour de France titles in a no-contest. CyclingNews:

VeloNews:
In cycling, there is a perennial battle between tradition and
innovation, the old ways and the new ways, training by feel and geeking
out over power data, obsessing about dieting and focusing on balanced,
wholesome nutrition. Tim Johnson (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) is
working hard in 2012 to find his way from the old to the new — and it’s
working.

If you want to go faster on your road bike, spend some time getting
aero, says Jeff Jones, editor of BikeRadar and 2009 British Masters
time trial champion. By that we mean adjusting your position, clothing
and equipment to reduce your drag so that you get the most out of the
power you’re putting in.

A big mover was the American Taylor Phinney. The BMC rider climbed 31
places to 54th after his second place in the Worlds time trial. This is
another great achievement for the young rider who wore the Pink Jersey

place in the Olympic road race and time trial.

"I
was often in the minority when David and VN colleague Charles Pelkey
were in the car, talking about our suspicions on which riders were or
weren’t doping. I liked to give riders the benefit of the doubt, but I
always listened to their arguments, and their views inevitably
influenced what I’d write—especially after the disastrous “Festina
Affair” Tour of 1998."
CyclingNews:

CTReview:
One of the more agreeable trends of the last couple of years has been
the re-release of previously discontinued saddle designs. A number of
models that, until very recently, were only to be found after scouring
eBay or rooting through dusty boxes at some bike boot sale may now be
bought brand new and at a price that reflects, not scarcity, but the
reality of modern-day bike manufacturing.
