June 16, 2014 Omega
Pharma-QuickStep are to send Michal
Kwiatkowski for tests this week, in an attempt to get to
the bottom of his poor performance at the Critérium du Dauphiné.
June 16, 2014 Despite
slipping from second to 12th overall on the final stage of the
Critérium du Dauphiné following the effects of a crash on stage 5, Chris Froome was
bouyed by his two stage wins, six days in the leaders jersey and
victory in the points classification. Mikel Nieve's stage
win saved the day with his first stage win for Sky in Courchevel but it
was the performance by Froome
that attracted equal attention. (cyclingnews.com)

June 16, 2014 Mathieu Van Der Poel
proved that he is a future star in the making when he beat several
WorldTour stars to win the Ronde van Limburg. When the hilly race came
down to a bunch sprint, the youngster held off Paul Martens and Greg Henderson to
take the biggest win of his career. (cyclingquotes.com)
June 16, 2014 The
difficult, hilly course of the Stillwater Criterium was not enough to
change the overall standings of the North Star Grand Prix on Sunday,
with GC leaders Ryan
Anderson and Carmen
Small securing overall victory of the six-stage race.

June 16, 2014 The
legendary Stillwater Criterium lived up to its reputation as one of the
hardest races in the United States on Sunday. Attacks flew as the
racers went up Chilkoot hill which features a 24 degree grade to
the finish line. (cyclingillustrated.com)
June 16, 2014 The
Hincapie Sportswear Development Team added to its list of 2014
successes last week when Toms
Skujins won the overall at the UCI 2.2 Tour de Beauce in
Canada. Skujins
took the yellow jersey after winning stage 2 and then defended his lead
through the finale on Sunday, when the 23-year-old Latvian took a
second stage win along with the points jersey and the competition for
best young rider. (cyclingnews.com)
June 16, 2014 June 15, 2014 June 15, 2014 June 15, 2014 | The
Tour de Suisse is proving costly to Tour de France ambitions for more
than a few big names. Bradley
Wiggins, who was on the bubble, at best, to earn a spot
for Team Sky’s nine-man Tour team, ceded more than two minutes in
Monday’s challenging finale won by Peter
Sagan, all but ending his GC hopes, and most likely his
Tour hopes as well. (velonews.com)
June 16, 2014 Andrew Talansky
leads the breakaway on Stage 8 of the Dauphiné. He’d gone clear in a
maxi-breakaway early in the stage and became the virtual race leader on
the road. By now Alberto
Contador was chasing and eating into the lead but Talansky was driving
the pace almost as if in a solo breakaway. This was the moment the race
was won. (inrng.com)

June 16, 2014 As
fondos go, the Oregon Gran Fondo isn’t huge. Right about 500 people,
which is enough to give you someone to ride with no matter where you
are on the course. It’s also ex-pro-free,
so it avoids any nasty questions about who’s fleecing who. It features
a proper start and the course isn’t some repackaged century.

June 16, 2014 June 15, 2014 | June 16, 2014 Levi Leipheimer is a
man between endpoints. How those endpoints are currently defined,
however, he can’t quite say. Leipheimer
is a former world-class athlete, but with a permanent stain on his
legacy. He spent half his life building toward achievements that many
see as meaningless. He is a former role model, but a man without a
platform. He carries a wealth of knowledge about professional cycling,
but is uncertain where that information is welcomed. He’s apologized
for his actions, knowing full well that many will never forgive him.

June 16, 2014 The
World Anti Doping Agency has said that it doesn’t have an issue with
the UCI’s decision to grant Chris
Froome a therapeutic use exemption for the corticosteroid
prednisolone, believing that the regulations were followed as required.
(cyclingtips.com.au)
The

Arbitration for Sport (CAS), requesting longer bans for three men
involved in doping at Lance
Armstrong's former US Postal Service Team: team manager Johan Bruyneel,
doctor Pedro Celaya
and trainer Jose 'Pepe"
Marti. (cyclingnews.com)
June 16, 2014 "With
more action than most GrandTours squeeze into 3 weeks this year’s
Dauphiné was an absolute cracker. We look at the big events of Froome imploding,
the resurgence of Alberto
Contador and the simply superb performance of Andrew Talansky.
What a race!" (pezcyclingnews.com)
June 16, 2014 The
