Tom Van Asbroeck continued his excellent season by taking the biggest win of his short career when he beat race leader Gianni Meersman in a photo finish on the fourth stage of the Tour de Wallonie. After an aggressive race, the stage was decided in a sprint from a 50-rider group where the young Belgian emerged as the strongest while a fourth consecutive second place for Meersman allowed him to extend his overall lead. Photo: Tomorrow is the hardest stage with a final similar to Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Silvan is in a good shape and the team is supporting him, so we hope for a good result.
Having taken over the leadership role from Philippe Gilbert, Silvan Dillier continues to shine in the Tour de Wallonie. Today the neo-professional sprinted to fourth place and goes into the queen stage in third place in the overall standings. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: Best rider: It's impossible to look beyond Astana's Nibali, the Italian national champion, who wore the yellow jersey for 18 out of 21 stages.
Now the dust has settled on Vincenzo Nibali's emphatic victory it's time to look back at the best - and worst - performances of the 101st Tour de France. (uk.eurosport.yahoo.com)

It’s finally all over. The barricades are long gone and the riders are off to various parts of the world before the next big thing. But for three weeks in July, the riders knock into one another every single day, gentle, or not, reminders of a line, a wheel. And who better to ask about the experience of a Tour de France than an eyes-wide-open rookie? (velonews.com)

Photo: Yeah I think he does have it. He just needs to get into a scenario where he’s on top and he’s fighting from the front. I’d still back him to lead a team in a grand tour...
Richie Porte failed to turn Team Sky’s perfect plan B into a successful campaign, but squad’s principal Dave Brailsford firmly stood behind his rider, claiming that the 29-year old Australian has what takes to become a grand tour leader when all significant elements will fall into right places. Photo: The road will have to take a back seat, we will use the road to compliment it but the priority will be the track. I said at the end that it would probably be the end for grand tours.
Even though there were some strong indications given that Bradley Wiggins would continue his road career as Team Sky rider, apparently his recent return to the track racing at the Commonwealth Games has changed his perceiving and the four time Olympic gold medalist put such scenario under a question as he aims to focus completely on Rio 2016.

Photo: Actually, the reverse is true. Minute for minute, you will expend more energy and therefore burn more calories if you exercise intensely rather than moderately.
Is weight loss truly greater (for the same time expended) when exercising at moderate (say, 60 percent of maximum capacity) versus more intense levels (85 percent of maximum capacity)?

Biking in Seattle can be less than mellow with all the hills, traffic and especially that rain. But those things are exactly what inspired the Teague team of bicycle designers to build the Denny bike for the Oregon Manifest bike design project.

The bigger tire size reduces rolling resistance, and that will make more difference on the tire that is supporting more weight — the rear tire. The 25mm tire also gives you more traction, assuming you’re running lower pressure in it than in the 23mm one. (velonews.com)

Photo: When I am on the bike, I don’t notice stickers or materials. What I care most about is whether the bike feels like an extension of my body...
Some cyclists these days seem to be concerned what their bike is, not what it does. One camp will never ride anything but lugged steel frames. For another, it’s carbon or nothing. Some will never ride narrow tires, others would never consider a tire wider than 23 mm. (janheine.wordpress.com)

Photo: NetApp-Endura’s Bartosz Huzarksi has put himself in the limelight by posting a picture of his legs.
Although some mainstream media have quoted ‘experts’ saying this ‘isn’t normal’ and even mentioned it is a result of doping, it is not uncommon among Tour riders. The pronouced viens are a long term result of increased capillary density (common in elite endurance athletes), exaggerated by dehydration after a long day in the saddle and low body fat levels experienced towards the end of a three week grand tour.
