Geraint Thomas took a heart-stopping solo victory in the Commonwealth Games men’s road race, beating Jack Bauer and Scott Thwaites. The Welshman attacked on the last ascent of St. Vincent Street, but suffered a puncture in the closing kilometres. He didn’t panic as he waited for a slow wheel change and powered home to win by more than a minute. (cyclingnews.com)

David Millar may have finished just over ten minutes behind winner Geraint Thomas in the Commonwealth Games road race, but to him the victory was in finishing. On home soil, Millar was riding his final race in Scottish colors. Only 12 men finished the race and it was that thought which helped Millar become one of them. (cyclingnews.com)

Fränk Schleck has no intentions of hanging up his wheels and retiring, telling Cyclingnews that his 12th place finish in this year’s Tour de France proved that he can ride at the highest level. Schleck missed nearly 18 months of racing after he returned a positive test for Xipamide at the Tour in 2012. He returned to racing at the start of this season after a year’s suspension and although his existing one-year deal at Trek is set to terminate at the end of 2014, he wants to carry on racing into 2015.
