Tejay van Garderen regained his status of leader of his hometown race, the USA Pro Challenge, with a vicious attack in the final kilometer of the summit finish at Monarch Mountain. The American surged away from the elite leading group, taking only Tour de France rival Rafal Majka along for the ride. (cyclingnews.com)

Tejay van Garderen looks solid. Tom Danielson suffered in the rain and mud over Kebler Pass, but sits nine seconds behind the defending champion. Danielson’s Garmin-Sharp teammate, Alex Howes, is in the race lead, 11 seconds over BMC’s Ben Hermans. And if Rafal Majka is going to crack in the high mountains, he’s not showing any signs, though he’s now 32 seconds behind on the GC. Trek Factory’s Matthew Busche, 13 seconds down, is the only rider in the top five overall that does not ride for either BMC Racing or Garmin-Sharp. (velonews.com)

The pressure of carrying all of Garmin-Sharp’s hopes into the Vuelta a Espana has been taken off the shoulders of the team’s Irish star Dan Martin, with news today that he will share the leadership with tried and trusted wing man Ryder Hesjedal. (stickybottle.com)

You’ve probably seen the guy by now. You know, the one person you know that has Google Glass furiously swiping at their temple trying to access the camera instead of accidentally searching for something in Google? Thanks to Thalmic Labs’ Myo arm band, there is a smarter way to navigate through smartglass options without even touching the device. (bikerumor.com)

Photo: The term “hormesis” is used in biology to describe a relationship between the dose of something and the benefit or harm from it.
So often the mentality in nutrition (and particularly sports nutrition) is “if some is good, more must be better”. If one protein shake helps recovery, then three will make my recovery three times as good. Fluid prevents dehydration and improves performance, so let’s guzzle down as much as possible.
