Orica GreenEdge directeur sportif Neil Stephens has confirmed that the team had issues with the manoeuvre by Nacer Bouhanni inside the final 50 metres of Saturday’s stage of the race, a sideways swerve which forced Michael Matthews to back off on his sprint and may have cost him the win. Photo: We had to fight for it, but eventually Wilco and I were up there again. We were able to connect at the very last moment. We’re looking very strong. This was a good final test for tomorrow...
Belkin again showed that they are among the strongest teams in windy conditions when they managed to position their three GC riders Laurens Ten Dam, Robert Gesink and Wilco Kelderman in the first group in stage 8 of the Vuelta a Espana. However, Gesink admitted that it had been a big fight to stay with the best on a dramatic day in Spain. (cyclingquotes.com)

Racing against Ellen van Loy in China sucks because excuses don’t apply. Van Loy works at least forty hours a week working with adults and kids with Down’s Syndrome. It can be an emotionally and physically exhausting job, but somehow she finds the time to train enough to be ranked sixth in the world. (cxmagazine.com)

Photo: We’re starting to get that roll going on [at Tinkoff-Saxo] as well. Now the challenge is that we keep together until the end of the season so we’re not starting from scratch in 2015.
How things have changed for Michael Rogers. Last year he had a positive test for Clenbuterol although thankfully the UCI cleared him of any wrongdoing and he returned to racing in Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Now, just 6 months on, Rogers has a new contract at Tinkoff-Saxo and three Grand Tour stages, including a win on Monte Zoncolan, one of cycling’s most feared climbs. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: Sagan did not win any stages, but finished very often among the first few riders. Also very pretty, but the gap with a rider who wins four stages should not be so big...
Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme has come under some abuse for the way the Green Jersey points are awarded. Peter Sagan won the competition for the third straight year even though he failed to win a stage in 2014 and Marcel Kittel took 4 but wasn’t even second in the classification. And Prudhomme may change the points scoring system. (cyclingquotes.com)

The Garmin-Cannndale merger has become a little clearer in terms of who will ride for the team in 2015. After strong performances and a first pro win, Alex Howes has signed a contract extension with the team and Davide Formolo, the neo-pro star has agreed to move to the team. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: Daryl (Impey) is definitely one of the riders in the team that can do well here. But we have a few guys in Pieter Weening, Simon Yates and Christian Meier who can also have a general classification result here.
Having been cleared to race yesterday, Daryl Impey is ready to return to racing when he lines up in the Tour of Alberta on Tuesday. The South African is part of a strong Orica-GreenEDGE that is loaded with fast riders. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: No one honked. No one threw anything. The cars calmly moved over, gave the riders space, and proceeded on their way. The riders aren’t just treated here like people, but very important people.
We usually think of Europe when it comes to cyclist-friendly people and cultures, a completely different experience than what we get at home in North America. But Guadeloupe is much closer to home, and as we recently discovered, is also home to a people who absolutely love cyclists, and cycling. (pezcyclingnews.com)
