Evans makes it two in a row, Danielson takes the overall.

One day after his win in the queen stage, Cadel Evans delivered another excellent performance in the final mountain stage of the Tour of Utah to take his second win in a row. Having been dropped on the final climb, he bridged the gap to the front quartet on the descent, recovered for a few kilometres and launched a perfectly timed sprint to hold off Wilco Kelderman and Winner Anacona. Veloso and Cardoso share the spoils on final day in Portugal.

Manuel Cardoso finally took his elusive stage victory when he won the final stage of the Volta a Portugal that finished with its traditional bunch sprint in Lisbon. Gustavo Cesar Veloso finished safely in the bunch to win the overall race ahead of Rui Sousa and his teammate Delio Fernandez. (cyclingquotes.com)

Valgren wins Tour of Denmark.

American talent nearly beats Evans in mountaintop finish.

For the second time in this year's Tour of Utah, American youngster Joseph Rosskopf underlined that he is a man for the future when he nearly beat Cadel Evans in a direct battle on the final climb of the queen stage. Riders disqualified from the Tour of Utah for holding onto vehicles.

Officials eliminated Lampre-Merida's Andrea Palini, Cannondale's Juraj Sagan and Drapac's Darren Lapthorne from the race as well as team directors Carlo Guardascone of Lampre-Merida, Mattias Michelusi of Cannondale and Jonathan Breekveldt of Drapac. Adam Blythe (NFTO) proved that he deserves to return to the WorldTour when he won a very hard and selective edition of the RideLondon Classic. The Brit made it into an elite five-man group that sprinted for the win on the Mall in London and here he showed an amazing kick to hold off Ben Swift and Julian Alaphilippe to take the biggest win of his career. Catharine Pendrel wins Windham cross country World Cup.

Catharine Pendrel won the elite women's cross country race at the Windham, New York round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup on Sunday afternoon. Pendrel finished ahead of Tanja Zakelj and Annika Langvad.

Lloyd hit by car in Utah.

The tough luck continues for Jelly Belly-Maxxis rider Matthew Lloyd, who was struck by a car August 7 while walking to dinner in Cedar City, Utah, and is recovering at a hospital in St. George. (cyclingnews.com)

Claudia Lichtenberg wins stage 1 at the Route de France.

Two riders had been away for most of the stage before Lichtenberg and eight other riders bridged up in the latter stages. Lichtenberg then attacked solo with roughly 20km to go, building up an advantage and finishing 29 seconds clear of solo chaser Alena Amialiusik. (cyclingnews.com)

Paul Kimmage - Unfinished stone for an unfinished love.

Johannes Draaijer was a Dutch cyclist. He won two stages of the Peace Race in 1987 and one stage of the Vuelta a Murcia in 1989. On February 27, 1990, Draaijer died in his sleep of a heart blockage, just a few days after a race. It is widely presumed, though not proven, that his death was caused by the use of the performance-enhancing drug erythropoietin (EPO). (independent.ie)

Training crash might prematurely end Pozzovivo’s season.

According to Italian media, Domenico Pozzivivo crashed heavily during a training ride and was quickly taken to nearest hospital, where medical examination revealed a fractures of right fibula and tibia.
