Moreno Hofland got the best possible return to racing after his long recovery from injury when he won today’s first stage of the Tour of Utah in a bunch sprint. The young Dutchman finished off excellent teamwork from his Belkin teammates by holding off Jure Kocjan and Andrea Palini in the final dash to the line to take both the stage win and the leader’s jersey. Any notion of two weathered gunfighters squaring off at high noon in the Utah desert may have to be put aside this week at the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, where competing priorities and human physiology could thwart attempts to set the table for a rematch between last year's main protagonists. (cyclingnews.com)

David Belda continued his excellent Volta a Portugal when he won today’s fifth stage of the race in a tough uphill finale. The Spaniard responded to an acceleration from Jose Goncalves with 1km to go before launching his counterattack that allowed him to narrowly hold off the OFM duo of Delio Fernandez and race leader Gustavo Veloso for his second stage win. Finishing third was enough for Veloso to extend his overall lead. (cyclingquotes.com)

“You have to accumulate a great amount of detail, cast your eye over perhaps years of data.”

Photo: Kreuziger’s case is different, he’s an active rider, a millionaire and already employing high-profile lawyers to defend him..
It’s a big test for the athlete passport system. So far the UCI has won every case it’s launched or asked others to prosecute, including winning appeals at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).  We might want the instant verdict of a toxicological test with a positive A and B test in the lab but the passport just doesn’t work like this. (inrng.com)

Adhesive tape stuck on the skin seems an improbable remedy for cycling-related aches and pains — but it’s growing in popularity. Does kinesiology tape really work? Tom Goom and David Bradford weigh the claims against the evidence. (cyclingweekly.co.uk)

Photo: the new Felt F1 PR, so dubbed for the Paris Roubaix races it was used for under the Argos-Shimano riders last year.
Across the range, Felt’s 2015 road bikes see a lot of trickle down tech to bring their AR (Aero Road), F (Racing) and triathlon designs to lower price points through the use of lower level carbon and smarter spec. They’ve also added a new V-series that splits the difference between road and commuter, plus a limited edition bike for the cobbles. (bikerumor.com)
