Domenico Pozzovivo has admitted that it was “half crazy”
to come back to racing less than two months after fracturing his tibia
and fibula in a training crash in August, but the Ag2r-La Mondiale
rider is hopeful that his early return will help him hit the ground
running in 2015. (cyclingnews.com)
November 3, 2014 Bradley Wiggins has
indicated that he plans to attempt the hour record in Majorca in July
or August of 2015, according to the owner of his favourite restaurant
on the island.
Tomeu Llompart, owner of Tolo’s in Port de Pollenca, recently hosted an event to celebrate Wiggins’ victory in the World Championships time trial. As reported by Diario de Mallorca, Llompart claims that Wiggins and Joan Llaneras, director of the Palma Arena, agreed in principle to host the attempt in July or August 2015. (cyclingweekly.co.uk) November 3, 2014 Jim Ochowicz,
general manager of the BMC Racing Team, has come out in support of
keeping the combined trade-team team time trial event at the 2015 UCI
Road World Championships instead of separating the event from the rest
of the races which are tackled by national teams, as suggested by the
Dutch media today. (cyclingnews.com)

little under a month after the UCI confirmed that the Fernando Alonso
Cycling Team (FACT) wouldn’t apply for a 2015 racing licence, former
world champion Paolo
Bettini has said that the long awaited team has been put
on hold.
Although FACT indicated in recent weeks that a team in the peloton was still a target, Bettini – who previously had a managerial role in building the squad – suggests the project could be at an end. “Unfortunately, and because of problems that is not my job to go into detail about, the Alonso project is currently halted completely,” the Italian told Procycling.no. “I still do not know the intentions for the future.” (cyclingtips.com.au) November 3, 2014 The
Tinkoff-Saxo team has confirmed a series of changes in its technical
staff for 2015 as it prepares to target the Classics with Peter Sagan and the
Giro d'Italia-Tour de France double with Alberto Contador.

November 3, 2014 Let’s
limit this to one Tour de France highlight. It’s a tough pick, do we
celebrate Tony Martin’s
enormous ride across the Vosges? Celebrate Ag2r’s joy as the team stood
below the podium in the pouring rain while Blel Kadri took the
applause for his stage win? What about the French pride at two riders
on the podium, the way the sport was reaching people like it used to?
Or those huge crowds in Yorkshire and London?
The highlight was the stage to Wallers-Arenberg, 155km and several cobbled sections. (inrng.com) November 3, 2014 "I’ve
been traveling with bikes for more than 20 years. I’ve shipped bikes by
UPS, ridden trains with them, flown with them and even had one
overnighted with FedEx. And yes, I’ve rammed them into a garage, or
two. I’ve used everything from cardboard to what are seemingly the most
durable cases ever to house a bicycle. At this point, I’ve seen it all.
I’ve pulled bikes from cases that have been mauled by baggage handlers
(anyone remember the American Tourister commercial?) only to find the
bike was fiddle fit. I’ve also seen flattened top tubes and rear
dropouts cold-set to a spacing of 5mm, though none of those were mine."

They are two of the sport’s icons, the beautiful three-week laps around
Spain and Italy.
The 1914 Giro d’Italia had four stages longer than 400 kilometers and
riders began at midnight the night before the stage was to end. The
modern-day Vuelta still looks like slow-motion death on a bicycle; its
heritage equal parts heat and elevation.
Outside of the Tour de France, these are the stage-race apples of a GC
man’s eye.
And they may be on the chopping block. (velonews.com)
November 3, 2014 "The
past weekend wasn’t exactly my best weekend on the bike so I’ll get
that bit out of the way first. At GP Twenty20 Cycles, Koppenberg, I
took the lead, crashed with no help from anyone else, and the pain that
followed held me back and I wasn’t able to perform at all. A very sad
8th place finish in my hometown race was a big disappointment but I’ll
be back. (helenwyman.com)
November 3, 2014 "Wahoo
Fitness landed a knockout blow to the rest of my trainers. My old gear
took up probably 25 square feet of floor space. They’re all gone. This
is all I need and possibly the best part of the KICKR is that this
trainer literally keeps getting better as its fairly open source output
allows one programmer after another to create newer / better / freshly
interesting training software..."
November 3, 2014 “One
of the biggest mistakes that the Cat. 3, 4, 5, and masters make is they
dress inappropriately for the weather,” Pruitt said. “If you look at
the pro guys, they are wearing arm warmers, leg warmers, and rain
jackets until it’s almost 70 degrees. The patella and patellar tendons
are just three millimeters under the skin, so there’s really no
insulation for them.” (velonews.com)
