While most of the European professionals have already started their holiday, some are still training to prepare for goals outside Europe. One of them is Francisco Mancebo. The Spaniard continues to ride with an eye on late November when he will put on a racing number if all goes well. That will be a relief because Mancebo has not done a race for his team, Pro Cycling Team SkyDive Dubai, since May. (cyclingquotes.com)

Looking to transfer every last watt of energy from the body to the wheels, serious riders are constantly in search of gear that prioritizes energy efficiency. A lot of times this equates to stiffness and as little weight as possible, which in material terms usually leads to carbon fiber. This obsession with lightweight composites goes beyond bike frames, with most high end cycling shoes sporting carbon fiber soles for maximum power delivery to the pedals. (roadbikereview.com)

Every sport has its colors. Team colors, checkered flags, green blazers.
In cycling, there is simply yellow. Sure, the world champion’s stripes are really something. And there’s the polka-dots, the green jersey, and the maglia rosa.
But the Maillot Jaune? It’s the one that’s sought after and dreamt of. It’s the one that motivates broken riders to train, to grind their teeth down. Wearing it in Paris is the dream, but holding it for even a day is something a rider carries with him forever. (velonews.com)

The third stop of the Chicago Cyclocross Cup (CCC) series, Dan Ryan Woods hosted by Beverly Bike*VeePak, had participants raving about new course features: expanded single track sections, a stair run up and more capitalizing on the park’s natural features to create a fast and technical course. Lou Kuhn, owner of series sponsor The Pony Shop, appreciated that the race had “more single track than most courses.” The race kept several features from previous years, including three half barriers that allowed many to show off their bunny hopping skills. The wonders of the humble floor pump can only be truly appreciated while sitting on a foreign hotel room floor, 200 pump strokes, 40 psi, and one case of tennis elbow into a half-hour-long tire inflation process. Mini-pumps, as a general rule, suck in inverse proportion to the amount of air that they blow. Smaller is generally worse. (velonews.com)
