Just 9.7 kilometers long, the route starts on the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela, close to one of its most modern public buildings, the Cultural Centre and finishes in the heart of the old city, a stone’s throw from the doors of its famous cathedral in the Plaza de Obradoiro square. This is where the famous Camino de Santiago - the Santiago pilgrims’ trail, running across Spain to Galicia - ends, hence the stage has been subtitled El Final del Camino - The End of the Road. Adam Hansen will ride the final time trial of the Vuelta a España with a special disk wheel to mark his record-equalling 10th consecutive Grand Tour finish. The Campagnolo Bora Ultra TT disk wheel has been decorated with red and white stickers listing each of the 10 races he’s completed. (cyclingnews.com)

Bradley Wiggins (Sky) won the stage

Bradley Wiggins stormed to victory in the in the penultimate time trial of the Tour of Britain. Wiggins completed the short 8.8-kilometer course in an average speed of 53.6kph to beat Sylvain Chavanel by eight seconds. Stephen Cummings rounded out the top three, finishing just a second behind Chavanel. (cyclingnews.com)

Riche Porte has decided to call a premature end to his tumultuous 2014 season. Porte had been named on the Australian team’s long-list for the World Championships at the end of the month. However, after a year or illness problems, the Australian has told national selector Bradley McGee that he won’t be able to ride in Ponferrada. He is also ruled out of the team time trial next Sunday. (cyclingnews.com)
