Tinkoff-Saxo's Alberto Contador extended his overall lead by winning the queen stage of the Vuelta a España, easily out-pacing top rival Chris Froome. Third on the day was Alessandro De Marchi, who had held the lead up most of the final climb.. (cyclingnews.com)

For the first time in this year's Vuelta a Espana, Chris Froome looked like his usual strong self when he animated the queen stage of the race. However, the Brit conceded time to race leader Alberto Contador and even though he is pleased with his growing condition, he admits that it will be hard to beat the Spaniard. (cyclingquotes.com)

Sunday at the Nittany Lion UCI race felt more like cyclocross, with temperatures falling 15 degrees from Day One’s scorching heat. The overnight rain created a deep bog of mud on the course near the velodrome, but is also turned the loose dirt of yesterday’s wooded section into tacky curves that gripped tires. (cxmagazine.com)
