Alberto Contador powers to victory on Ancares

Alberto Contador clinched the Vuelta a España title when he finished alone at the summit of the Ancares pass at the end of the penultimate stage. Having responded to a number of attacks by Chris Froome, the Spaniard accelerated away from the Briton inside the final 500 metres of the climb and was 17 seconds clear at the line. As the Tour of Britain is progressing, it is becoming blatantly obvious that OPQS rider Michal Kwiatkowski is one of, if not the, strongest riders in the race. For the second day in a row, the favorites in the Tour of Britain miscalculated their chase and allowed a strong breakaway to turn the race on its head. While Julien Vermote took a beautiful solo win, Dylan van Baarle finished third and took the leader’s jersey off Alex Dowsett’s shoulders, with the Brit dropping to 10th after he had suffered on the final two climbs. Sunday's Tour of Britain Stage 8a, an 8.8km Individual Time Trial in London, gets underway at 11:01am BST (6:01am U.S. Eastern) with the departure of the first rider.  Tour of Britain live streaming video should get underway at around -- BST (-- U.S. Eastern).

Sunday's afternoon Tour of Britain Stage 8b is a circuit race in London.  It is scheduled to begin at 3:30pm BST (10:30am U.S. Eastern) and end around 5:30pm BST (12:30pm U.S. Eastern).  Tour of Britain live streaming video should get underway at around 3:00pm BST (10:00am U.S. Eastern). Nicolas Roche has been one of the most aggressive riders during this week’s Tour of Britain. The Tinkoff-Saxo rider has been jumping off the front for the past few stages.
