At the beginning of the 2014 season Phil Gaimon got things off to a dream start with the Garmin-Sharp team, winning his first-ever race with the WorldTour team and also notching up the squad’s first victory of the year. Hitting the line first on stage one of the Tour de San Luis rewarded the team for its faith in him and saw him take the jersey of race leader. He would eventually lose it on stage five, but he battled on and finished an excellent second overall, just 43 seconds behind Tour de France runner-up Nairo Quintana. (cyclingtips.com.au)

So in this moment we are okay with these ten contracts. (cyclingtips.com.au)

Photo: But if it’s a setback for the UCI it could be better for everyone in the long term.
A misleading headline but reports seem to be running with a similar title. What’s misleading? The Beijing authorities pulled the plug as opposed to the UCI deciding to call time. Does the causality matter? Yes, substantially so because the sport loses a top race in a key market and the World Tour calendar shrinks, something the UCI probably wouldn’t want if it had the choice. So much for globalization. (inrng.com)

Interbike is meant to be an event in which dealers see new products from manufacturers and then place pre-season orders with their sales rep. That was the point of the show and that’s the part that has ceased to work. Bike companies are being pressed by OEMs to forecast further into the future, pushing their need for preseason orders earlier and earlier into the summer. Meanwhile, dealers would surrender blood and organs in exchange for the ability to stay in their shops during the height of the selling season. (redkiteprayer.com)
