Voigt breaks world hour record.

German Jens Voigt has become the first rider crack 50 kilometers ridden in the world hour record since the UCI modified the rules earlier this year. Voigt bested the previous mark, set by Ondrej Sosenka in Moscow on July 19, 2005 by more than a kilometer. (cyclingnews.com)

Wiggins may head Sky-backed development team.

The Guardian has reported that Team Sky and British Cycling are investigating forming a development team which would have Bradley Wiggins as its leader and figurehead, from midway through 2015 into 2016, when the 2012 Tour de France winner hopes to bow out with a bid for an Olympic medal in Rio de Janeiro. Albasini wins the big one in Lombardy.

Michael Albasini continued Orica-GreenEDGE’s recent run of success when he won one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious stage races, Tre Valli Varesine, in impressive fashion. Launching a perfectly time sprint from the 8-rider front group that had escaped on the penultimate lap of the main circuit, the Swiss passed Sonny Colbrelli just metres before the line while Filippo Pozzato rolled across the line as a distant third. Jungels withdraws from World Championships.

Bob Jungels was expected to feature in all three events held during the upcoming World Championships in Ponferrada as a part of Trek Factory Racing and Luxemburg national team, but the 21-year old rider was forced to withdraw his participation due to health problems. (cyclingquotes.com)

Report: Pardilla to leave MTN-Qhubeka.

After two seasons with African Pro-Continental team MTN-Qhubeka, Sergio Pardilla has decided to continue his career elsewhere in 2015. Having ridden impressively in his first two years at the Continental level, Joe Dombrowski failed to perform in line with huge expectations after joining Team Sky in 2013. It took over 18 months to discover why the 23-year old American was unable to make any further progress, but it seems that another squad will benefit from a surgery he has recently undergone as he is set to change the squad for 2015 season.
