Going into Saturday's final round of the Women's Road World Cup, the GP de Plouay-Bretagne, Lizzie Armitstead had an unassailable lead and was set to take out the series overall. A solo victory on the final stage of the Tour de L'Avenir for Lotto-Belisol's neo-pro Louis Vervaeke sealed victory for Belgium in the U23 UCI Nations Cup. David de la Cruz has signed a two-year contract with Omega Pharma-Quick Step, the team announced Monday. The 25-year-old Spaniard has been a professional since 2010, when he rode for Caja Rural. He switched to NetApp-Endura for the 2013 season. (velonews.com)

One time trial and two summit finishes done and there’s still plenty to decide. The organizers of the GP Quebec and the GP Montreal have confirmed that the USA’s Tejay van Garderen, current world champion Rui Costa and Australia’s Simon Gerrans will ride the one-day WorldTour races on September 12 and 14, with six of the current top 15 in the WorldTour rankings leading the WorldTour teams.
