Tony Martin cruised
to victory in the Vuelta a Espana time trial on stage 10 to Borja but
there was a major shake up in the fight for the overall with Nairo Quintana
crashing and Alberto
Contador moving into the race lead.

September 2, 2014 Another
recent Giro formula, the short stage to a single, but rather difficult,
MTF. Pretty nasty stuff. The climb averages a tidy 7.5% for ten km,
which is certainly a bigger deal than anything we've seen to date.

September 2, 2014 While
Chris Froome
struggles hard to save so far disastrous season for Team Sky, away from
the action, their manager works on closing British team’s roster for
2015. Dave Brailsford
revealed that Bradley
Wiggins is about to sign new agreement with the squad and
believes that departure of Edvald
Boasson Hagen should provide other riders and the
Norwegian himself with new opportinities. (cyclingquotes.com)
September 2, 2014 "At
Eurobike 2012, we looked at BMC’s “return” to cyclocross with their
release of the 2013 GranFondo GF02 disc, increasing the length of the
chainstays and equipping the road model with disc brakes. Keeping a
familiar geometry from the GranFondo, BMC made their return official
this year, displaying their 2015 CrossMachine CX01." (cxmagazine.com)
September 2, 2014 Connex
has a new chain design called Diamond Shape, which radically chamfers
the outer and inner links and their interface with the rollers. They’re
compatible with SRAM, Shimano and Campagnolo because they basically
blend the chamfers and shapes used on those brands’ chains.

September 2, 2014 “I
wouldn’t just slag off the passport as a tool, I think it’s useful, but
I think it’s being applied in the wrong way. It probably will continue
to be applied in the wrong way and I’m sure it has in the past as
well." - Jonathan
Tiernan-Locke. (cyclingweekly.co.uk)
September 2, 2014 Saxo-Tinkoff's
Alberto Contador
threw down a major marker at the Vuelta a Espana's premier time trial
today with a strong ride, propelling him into the overall lead after
ten stages. More importantly, both of his presumed rivals suffered
terribly on the stage, Sky's Chris
Froome from an apparent lack of form and Movistar's Nairo Quintana from
a disastrous tumble off a guardrail that cost him more than three
minutes, and a bit of skin. (podiumcafe.com)
September 2, 2014 "Sure,
it’s no Vuelta, and we get whole weeks off instead of rest days, but if
you’re one of the lucky few to go from the Tour of Utah, to the USA Pro
Challenge, to the Tour of Alberta, to the one-day races in Montreal and
Quebec, you get about the same number of race days as a grand tour
(maybe exactly the same, but I’m not looking it up)." (velonews.com)

future plans. (cyclingnews.com)
September 2, 2014 With
little more than a month to go before the presentation of the 2015 Tour
de France route, there are already plenty of rumors circulating about
potential stages. Among the most surprising is a report from the D!Ci
radio station in the southern Alps, which suggests that next year’s
Tour will spend three days in that region and could feature a summit
finish on the Col de la Bonette-Restefond. (cyclingnews.com)
September 2, 2014 The
relatively flat parcour of the 2014 Tour of Alberta, which starts
Tuesday evening with a four-km prologue time trial in Calgary, looks
tailor-made for a week of fast finishes for the sprinters. But all that
could change if the winds whip across the Southern Alberta plains.
