Giampaolo Caruso (Katusha) won the Milan-Turin one-day race in Italy with a late burst of speed on the uphill finish to the Superga Basilica, using his excellent end of season form to get the better of fellow Italian Rinaldo Nocentini (Ag2r-La Mondiale). Katusha teammate Dan Moreno finished third, with Joaquim Rodriguez fifth and Sergei Chernetckii seventh for the Russian squad. (cyclingnews.com)

Roman Kreuziger (Tinkoff-Saxo) has been named in the line-up for this Wednesday’s Milano-Torino. It is the first time that Kreuziger will race since being cleared of doping violations by the Czech Olympic Committee two weeks ago. He will ride in support of defending champion Alberto Contador, who is returning to racing after winning the Vuelta a España earlier this month. (cyclingnews.com)

It’s not time for the beach yet, at least with the UCI WorldTour titles still up for grabs. Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) and Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) are putting their vacation plans on hold, at least for a few more weeks. Dario Cataldo has signed a one-year deal with Team Astana for 2015. The move brings his time at Team Sky to an end after two years with the British WorldTour team. Cataldo, 29, turned professional with Liquigas in 2007 and joined Omega Pharma QuickStep in 2009. (cyclingnews.com).
