Pro
cyclocross racing returned to Los Angeles this weekend, for the first
time at the Greek Theater in Griffith Park. Day 1 of CXLA was conducted
under blue skies and dry, short-sleeve conditions on a 2.5km course
featuring considerable climbing and enough technical trickiness to keep
even the most savvy bike handlers on their toes. (cxmagazine.com)
November 23, 2014 Mark Cavendish and Iljo Keisse retained
their position at the top of the standings on day five of the Gent Six,
despite Cavendish
crashing earlier in the night. The pair remain behind Jasper De Buyst and Kenny De Ketele on
points, but are one lap ahead of the Dutch duo. Only 48 points, and a
lap, separate the leading pairs making it all to play for on the final
session on Sunday. (cyclingnews.com)

runway at the Koksijde air base gathered dust on Saturday afternoon
during the second round of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup. A sand storm
caused by several youngsters caused serious damage amongst the big
boys. The generation is led by Wout
Van Aert and Mathieu
van der Poel. The 20-year-old riders blew the race apart
on Saturday putting the rest of the experienced field at distance in
the deep, dry sand of Koksijde. (cyclingnews.com)
November 23, 2014 Damiano Cunego hopes
that his switch to the Nippo-Vini Fantini in 2015 can bring him out of
a slump and back to his winning ways. After his peak in 2005, victories
have become few and far between for the 'little prince' and he ended
this year without a single win. (cyclingnews.com)

many other talents too." (road.cc)

chest feels like it's going to explode. You're struggling for air, each
breath feeling insufficient to sate your lungs. You're drowning.
Somebody tries to hand you a lifeline, but they're stopped in their
tracks. Salvation, meters away, but out of reach. Breathe. Breathe.
Breathe. (sbs.com.au)
November 23, 2014 In
the morning, the course at Stony Point was a jarring, unyielding
mixture of frozen ground, with only the middle of the course providing
a flat, grassy area for the powerhouse racers. As the day went on, the
corners softened up. The wooded section at the back of the course began
to form large muddy puddles and even the front of the course near the
barriers felt leg sapping. (cxmagazine.com)
November 23, 2014 "Even
if Lars didn't fall, Kevin was quite obviously the better rider. Having
been sick, Lars did great with 2nd." (podiumcafe.com)
November 23, 2014 US-champion
Jeremy Powers
has his eyes set on riding a good World Cup series this season. That
endeavor includes a trip to the dunes of Koksijde. The course on the
Belgian North Sea coast is very particular, with several deep sand
sections that demands for sand-riding and running skills; the two
features lacking in Powers’ package deal. (cyclingnews.com)

November 23, 2014 What
can you say about a team with riders capable of opening and closing a
63-win season with World Championship victories except superb.
Omega Pharma-QuickStep had one of the most successful seasons with an abundance of unforgettable victories neatly wrapped in rainbow-jersey-winning performances by the Czech Republic’s Zdeněk Štybar in cyclo-cross and Poland’s Michal Kwiatkowski on the road. (cyclingnews.com) November 23, 2014 Can
a 650B randonneur bike climb as well as the best titanium racing bikes?
It did climb as well in a Bicycle Quarterly test, and that raised a few
eyebrows. After all, the randonneur bike weighed 10 pounds more…
Theoretically, assuming equal power output on each bike, the lighter bike will be faster up the hill. So how could the heavier randonneur bike keep up? (janheine.wordpress.com) November 23, 2014 Now

has presented his re-worked plans for the reforms for cycling to race
organizers in a meeting in Oudenaarde, Belgium. The reforms are set to
come into effect in 2017 and hope to reduce the number of race days on

to cut days from their events. Cookson
is aware that he has a battle on his hands but remains confident of
things going ahead as planned. (cyclingnews.com)
