UnitedHealthcare manager Mike Tamayo gave his women’s team an A when grading their overall success during the 2014 season, a great mark considering it was the team’s first year on the professional women’s circuit. Tamayo believes there is still room for improvement, however, and he is confident that the team will rise up to his A+ standards during their second season in 2015. (cyclingnews.com)

Gerald Ciolek (MTN Qhubeka) was a surprise winner in 2013

Gerald Ciolek says that he’s not worried about a lack of opportunities in the new-look MTN-Qhubeka team. Ciolek has been the team’s main sprinter since joining them in 2013 but will have to share responsibilities with the other fast-men that have joined this winter. The German believes that he will have ample chances to ride for himself in 2015. (cyclingnews.com)

Only a day after an epic battle against Katie Compton at the World Cup in Milton Keynes, Sanne Cant took up her bike for yet another ferocious forty minutes of a one-on-one battle, this time at the Flandriencross Hamme against Ellen van Loy.
Van Loy has been a brilliant starter throughout her career, and today was no exception as she fired forward right from the gates, not only taking the holeshot, but also creating a notable gap between her and the rest of the field a lap in the race. Early on, Cant seemed more content to sit in with the chasing group, looking as if her fight in the World Cup finally took its toll. (cxmagazine.com)

In 2015 the Milan-San Remo Classic will go back to its traditions to set up a spectacular finale on the classic Via Roma finish line, which has played a key role in the history of this monumental race. So what better time to take a look back at  ‘La Primavera’. (pezcyclingnews.com)

High up in the Yatsugatake mountains in Japan, sitting at 4429 feet, the little town of Nobeyama has cemented itself as a cyclocross destination thanks to Daisuke Yano’s UCI C2 event.
The Nobeyama Cyclocross should be on the bucket list of any cyclocrosser hoping to visit Japan. (cxmagazine.com)

Jan Ullrich will speak about his doping past in a pre-recorded interview due to be screened on German television station RTL on Sunday evening.
The 40-year-old Ullrich belatedly confessed to blood doping in an interview with Focus magazine in June 2013, seven years after he was barred from participating in the 2006 Tour de France due to his implication in the Operacion Puerto investigation. (cyclingnews.com)

"I'm going for the podium in the smaller stage races and top 10 in the grand tours. This is ambitious but I am still improving and hope to continue the upward trend. It can be a great season if I can fulfill my ambitions." (cyclingquotes.com)

Fabian Cancellara talks about the world championships
Photo: © Ilario Biondi/Bettini Photo.
Fabian Cancellara spent much of last winter refuting the notion that the revamped Trek Factory Racing team – the offspring of the Leopard and RadioShack merger – was in any way ‘his’ team, but the 2014 season seemed to bear out the thesis.
True, some of Trek’s youngsters showed up well at various points through the campaign and Jens Voigt’s retirement season auto-generated its own series of headlines, but in purely sporting terms, the success or failure of the season was entirely dependent on Cancellara. (cyclingnews.com)

Photo: Nikki Harris was a crowd favorite, although domestic riders and international stars alike were given a great reception by Milton Keynes. © Andy Ward.
Yesterday, Milton Keynes hosted the first World Cup event to be held outside Continental Europe. The Elite Men’s and Women’s Races were both filled with high tension right down to the wire, with Sanne Cant edging Katie Compton at the line, and Kevin Pauwels taking the win in the finishing stretch.
With a podium finish by British racer Nikki Harris and the best ever result by men’s rider Ian Field, the country can certainly hold its head high by nearly every measure. Our on the ground correspondent, Phil Ingham, was able to talk to some of the British elite racers and the event organizer, Simon Burney, to get their impression of the day. (cxmagazine.com)
