A big battle between Belgians Michael Vanthourenhout and Wout van Aert was expected. At the midpoint, both of them joined the right group which consisted of five riders. (cyclingquotes.com)

Ian Boswell hopes that 2015 will be the season all the pieces in the jigsaw come together as he looks to establish a place in Team Sky’s future. The 23-year-old signed a three-year deal as a promising young rider at the start of 2013, and with one year remaining is well aware that he must make the most of next season.
One development that has already taken place in the American’s life surrounds his coaching, with ex-professional Dario Cioni set to mentor him next year. (cyclingnews.com)

Photo: Without concrete knowledge about the overall costs, the Management Committee of the Tour de Normandie has several weeks to make a final decision.
This morning sad news have emerged. After 34 years, the Tour de Normandie could disappear. While the course has already been finalized, the police costs is a challenge for the organizers.
In fact, everything looked good. The course was ready and many teams had applied for the race which is schedule to take place from March 23 to 29, 2015. However, the expense to have local police at the race have been multiplied by 10 in one year (from 4500 euros in 2014 to 40000 euros in 2015) due a ministerial decree from October 28 2010 (which will become effective from January 1). David Millar has praised the Dave Rayner Fund for its role in his development as an aspiring professional, calling it “a massive help” for riders on the fringe of moving to continental teams.
Millar was part of the early draft of the fund, which was set up after the tragic death of Yorkshire pro Dave Rayner in 1995. Its aim was to help young British riders make the leap from domestic racing to the European professional peloton in an era long before British Cycling’s increased funding. (cyclingnews.com)

"Steve Scoles in Winnipeg, who recently acted as the announcer of the 2014 Canadian Cyclocross Championships, just gave us his rendition of Bill Schieken’s Svenness videos. Spoiler alert: Garrigan takes the lead… he holds on to the lead… he keeps the lead… he finishes with the lead. It’s a thorough analysis, we know.
Somehow we see another Schieken parody in Scoles’s future, possibly Swills, Distills, and Bellyaches: A Cyclocross Beer Tent Primer." (cxmagazine.com)

Slipstream sports is heading into a new phase of its life, with the merger with Cannondale meaning there will be more Italians than ever before on the American team.
“It will be a completely new team, we are facing a complete reshuffling of the deck,” Moreno Moser told Tutto Bici. “It’ll be a new project for everyone and with new finish lines to reach.”
Four other Italians join Moser: Davide Formolo, Davide Villela, Alberto Bettiol and Alan Marangoni. Sloveinans Matej Mohoric and Kristjan Koren and American Ted King also make the jump. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: I really hope I can be a big part of that next season. And after that, it is on to the Grand Tours for me again, and helping out these two sprinters and trying to get them stage wins again.
In all eight of Marcel Kittel’s Tour de France stage wins in 2013 and 2014, he has attributed his success in every single one of those stages to his teammates. One of those men is Dutchman Koen de Kort, who recently met with CyclingTips to talk 2015 and helping Kittel and Giant-Shimano’s other star sprinter John Degenkolb.
De Kort says that while Kittel has been the best sprinter in the Tour de France for the last two editions now, he doesn’t think his teammate will target the race’s Green Jersey in 2015. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: I am sure that plenty of US teams would love to have him if they could come up with the money. We are not one of those teams and we have zero interest.
"The number of teams who are saying they don not have room for 2013 Vuelta a Espana winner Chris Horner is growing.
CyclingQuotes.com told a story where it was confirmed that both Jelly Belly and Jamis-Hagens Berman said they were not interested, didn’t have the finances or the space to hire the beteran American. Now we can add UnitedHealthcare, Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies and MTN-Qhubeka to the list of teams who cant sign Horner for some reason or another." (cyclingquotes.com)

Matthew Brammeier is close to signing a contract with a new team after confirming that he would not re-sign with the Synergy Baku Cycling Project for 2015.
“At the moment nothing is confirmed but I have something that’s coming into place. It’s a Professional Continental team and that’s what I was holding out for. It means I’ll be back in some of the bigger European races.” (cyclingnews.com)

Photo: The podium in Paris-Roubaix was really special, because it was for the first time in my career that I stood on the podium in a Monument. Gent-Wevelgem is an important race, but Paris-Roubaix is something different.
John Degenkolb has been one of the most successful riders of 2014, winning 4 stages at the Vuelta plus its points jersey, Gent-Wevelgem and finishing second in Paris-Roubaix plus five more wins.
“I was planning to do a successful season and it worked out. It was a really nice season, during which I worked hard from the beginning until the end. I had a great Spring campaign, but I must admit that in the Tour de France I was disappointed with the crash and the fact I couldn’t win a stage. Then, the Vuelta was great, and the same goes for the one-day races after the Vuelta,” the German said to caferoubaix.com in a recent interview. (cyclingquotes.com)

Photo: The Route: the D927 starts from the village of St Etienne de Cuines just above La Chambre. Here it proceeds south-west for 19.7km to the summit at 1924m above sea level with an average gradient of 7.3% and a maximum of 11%.
"We celebrate the summit finishes and often forget the roads the roads that preceed them. Today’s the chance to venerate a climb that’s used en route to many a Tour de France stage finish and it’ll be scaled twice next July.
It’s worth riding for its own sake and ideal to combine with other high mountain passes in the area." (inrng.com)
